[Kat's in her hangar, working on schematics and starting a new, large project. What this place needed was a tank. She's got the doors wide open, feel free to wander in and bother the Spartan.]

I don't know about anyone else, but as much as the nightmares were an unwanted experience forced on us against our will, it was ... refreshing, I think, to get a reminder of home; of what we're fighting for, of what's important.

York

[Even though it was just a dream, she still feels pretty guilt-ridden that she allowed York to die in her nightmare.]

I owe you a ... beer. [That's what civvies did, right?]

Falcon drills at 1600. Be at the hangar at 1530. I want to see just how rusty we've gotten. [Nightmares get to her? Maybe. Probably. Yes.]

[Ada's been doing a lot of wandering around since arriving. Don't mind her stepping in, looking at the inside of the hangar with interest.]

[It's filled with war vehicles from the 26th century; a Falcon, two Warthogs, and a Mongoose. Kat's currently bend over a workstation with several schematics for a Scorpion, trying to decide the best place to start. She hears Ada enter, and after a moment looks up with curiously.]

[They look a little familiar, and Ada doesn't hesitate to walk over and inspect them. She glances over at Kat.]

Are these yours?

[Kat turns from her workbench and leans against it, motioning to each of the vehicles.]

The Falcon is. The Warthogs and Mongoose belong to York.

Impressive. I didn't think I'd see anything like this, here. Do they see much action?

[Kat hefts a sigh and looks up at the Falcon.]

Not really. The only time this thing has been used for battle was back when Riful attacked, which was quite some time ago. I'm taking it out later today with my teammates to make sure we're up on our skills, but it's not really busy like it would have been in our own world.

[Hmm. Ada crosses her arms.]

It figures we'd end up with military sorts here, all things considered.

[A smile.] Are you disappointed you're not busy?

Action?

[To say Carolina's a little shaken by the nightmares would be an understatement. They're fueling her to do more, to make as much time as she can before that cursed one-year mark rolls up. Part of that is to do some work around the hangar and try to get a few things set up of her own.

At the sight of Kat there, Carolina pulls her helmet off.] Noble Two.

Action!

Agent. [Kat's got the workstation spread with Scorpion schematics, her helmet resting nearby.]

Did you sleep well? [Not directly prying about the nightmares, but aware of the effect they've had on herself and others.]

Action!

Not as well as I wanted to. [Carolina heads toward her, with an even more deliberate gait than usual.] Mind if I help out?

[At least she's gotten a little better about asking first before barging straight into NOBLE team business.]

Hopefully that's the end of that for a while. [Not that she believes it, though.]

If you want, you can move around the warthogs and clear out a space for me to get started. [She was being a little possessive about this project, needing it to distract her from the lingering nightmares.]

[Carolina's not entirely sure either, what with the Castle's reputation and all. She'd rather not throw her hat into its ring yet. Still, she responds with a curt nod, reminding herself that sometimes following orders is alright and she's still helping. So, she'll head to the nearest warthog to release the emergency break and start carefully pushing it toward one of the walls of the hangar.]

Looks like you like to keep busy. [It's not an accusation, more of a compliment.]

Stagnancy and I don't get along too well. Here I discovered early on it was prudent to be able to distract myself when things got too quiet.

What about you? How do you keep busy when the castle isn't flipping out?

I am sorry for your situation, but for me -- seeing what actually could have been and knowing it never happened ... I am okay with this. [She accepts her death a little more because she knows it wasn't in vain.]

Seeing it happen makes the fact that it didn't all the more powerful to me.

You can be thankful, as well, you know. It was a terrible thing the castle did but it's over.

So everyone took something different from it. I'm just suggesting it's not all bad. [But the mention of York does get a sting. She'd had him in her nightmare, too, and she'd let him down.]

[It takes York a while to respond; he's been significantly more withdrawn for the past week and a half, and it's not hard to imagine why.]

I feel like I ought to get you a whole keg, if that's the sort of shit you dealt with all the time. But I'd like that.

[It's not hard for Kat to figure why he's being so quiet, and she faults herself for some of that. Her tone is quiet and careful in reply.]

The difference being I was engineered for it, you weren't. I shouldn't have sent you in without proper backup.

[York pauses for another long moment. Engineered. Yeah, she was, wasn't she? That doesn't sit easy with him.]

Look, Kat, we were trained for the war too, you know. Sure, if I had a team, or if it wasn't--wasn't that place in particular, or--you know, New York City, maybe I wouldn't have been off my game so much.

It's my fault as much as anything.

[Now it's her turn to be quiet. Part of her upbringing had curbed that emotional response in deference to a cool, tactical head for battle.]

I knew something was off. [And she didn't do a damn thing about it.]

Meet me in the lobby, we'll head to town from there?

[And asking her to reassure him that they never actually do attack New York would be useless - they're both gone by the time the Covenant finds Earth anyway. Does it matter? Of course it does. Is there anything either of them can do about it? Of course not. And as much as anything, that's why the nightmare shook him so badly.]

Yeah. Yeah, I'll be right down.

[Of course when he does show up he'll be in full armor. He's been reminded once again why it's dangerous not to wear it - you never know.]

[Kat's taken a whole different approach to it, but of course she'd never even been to the real Earth and -- as much as she was created to defend it, doesn't have the same kind of attachment that York does.]

[She's in armor as well, since she was just a pony and, hell. She missed her second skin.]
