BACK TO THE WELL

There are some new faces, and some old, but even so, the well is just the same: old, crumbling, but just preserved enough that the bucket-and-winch is intact, though certainly not sturdy enough to bear the weight of more than water and a cat.

The group is here because they decided that the best way to get answers was to examine the source of the creature itself. They have a useful team for it: detectives, waterbenders, girls with rope for hair, all of them.

But they should have a game plan on how to approach this.

[Conan fully expected to be lectured about leaving such dangerous situations for adults to handle. If, that is, anyone noticed him before it was too late to try to send him away. And that would be shy he is skulking around the edges of the group.]

[Well it's certainly too late to send anyone back there now, and they need all the help they can get in deciphering whatever's in the well that might be able to help, them, but...

Did no one really notice a child following them on the trip?]

Erm, are you sure you want to be out here? With that horrid creature running about, it's quite dangerous.

[He gives her a bright innocent look.]

I'm sure! Don't worry, I can be very careful.

[She blinks owlishly.]

Well...if you're sure...

[That's her way of saying she'll be keeping an eye on you.]

[Dairine noticed Conan's presence in the group fairly quickly. You might even say she expected it. So when she gets a chance, she sneaks over to bother visit him.]

Well, look who we have here.

[Great. Now he had to deal with her again.]

Mmm, I wanted to come along!

[She grins, suspiciously cheerful.]

I'm sure you did, detective.

[This one is inappropriately excited about everything that's going down right now. In fact, he seems almost happy that all this is happening.

Seriously, who invited this asshole?]

Ohhh, brilliant. [He bends over double to look into the well.] Bit overdone, the monster from down below, but I'll take it.

[Here's your look, Sherlock. Your look of WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?]

Overdone or not, this mutt is killing people. We need to find out where it came from so we can stop it from coming back - or more like it.

[She pulls out a length of rope, and eyes the well itself. Not sturdy looking, no, but there are plenty of trees around...]

It killed one person.

[He says it absently -- it's not a defense, just a correction. He sits up to inspect the bucket, turning it every which way like he might glean something useful from the handle.

He glances over at Katniss, his eyes lighting on the rope.]

Always did think I'd like to go potholing one day.

[She rolls her eyes.] Right. Sorry. It's maimed lots of people and killed one. That makes it better.

[She loops it around the tree, making sure the knot is firm and tight, just like she learned in training.]

I'm going in first. [She nodded towards Rin, then Rapunzel.] Might use her hair as a back-up. Make sure I've got a way out. Then the rest of you can follow me.

If there are answers, they will be where the cat came from: inside the well. Get down there, explorers.

Okay. [She looks at the group gathered around, eyes sharp in the near darkness.] I'm going to tie the rope to that tree there. We need one or two volunteers to stay behind, make sure the rope's in good condition, and most importantly? Look out for that damned cat.

The rest of us need to figure out how to empty the well. Once we do that, we can investigate. Ideas?

[She actually leans over the mouth of the well briefly, squinting down into the depths. Before leaning back. How spooky.]

We have somebody who has a mile of alive hair. Why don't we just send down a scout to see what we're dealing with right away?

[She looks at the young woman, a thoughtful look on her face.]

I see no problem with that, as long as the girl with the mile long hair doesn't mind me climbing down it. [She reached into her bag, pulling out her hunting knife, and a small flash light.]

[Hello there, there is a white wolf leaning over the well too, trying to look if there is any water left in it. She doesn't mind at all jumping down there and take it out in the way only she knows. Better her than anyone else. She, in fact, jumps on the edge of the well, pondering how to do this.]

[She's strangely getting used to animals poking their heads around and not trying to eat her. It's the cat with the hands that seems more at home than all these peaceful beasts.]

Hey! ... Wolf! Get back from there. You don't even have a light.

Hey. You're perfect to hunt down a scary cat.

I'll keep watch up here. If there's some magical cavern down there that needs exploring, or felines that need ass kicking, I can help there, too.

[Says the weirdo in the bat suit.]

[She nods in approval to the .... weirdo in the batsuit. ]Okay, good. First we send in our scout to see what's going on - then we get the rest of the unit down.

[She nods to the woods.] You see something out there, don't hesitate. That's how it keeps hurting our people.

[Dairine peers down into the well, a small pinpoint of light bobbing next to her.]

Oh trust me -- I've got nothing but ideas.

Good, because we're going to need every last one of them.

[Katniss smirked at her friend, making sure she had everything attached to her belt.]
