Okay. I've managed to find a wee place, not far from the centre of town, easy to get back to the castle if we need to....

It should be a good place. Can everyone who was interested please let me know if you still are so I can get a list put together? As well as any supplies we may need to get set up?

Colonel, I was wondering if I could ask a favour. I'm setting up a clinic in town, and I was wondering if it was possible to get some electricity generators set up for emergencies. The City Royale doesn't have much readily available power source.

I thought I'd give you a wee status update. Unfortunately, Dr. Keller and I haven't been very successful. It's a very resiliant condition.

I hear you've been having a bit of trouble since that whole... nightmare business. If you want to talk to someone about it, you can always come to me.

You know, I'd really love to work on something that I think could actually...well...work. [A heavy sigh, you can almost hear her rubbing at her eyes.]

When do you need me? How are we set for supplies?

Hopefully not for a while. I've just managed to find a place to set it up.

Supplies, apart from wishing, we'd need to get everything ourselves, unfortunately. I don't think we can find any ZPMs lying around.

In trying to jury rig a gate together I've found a way to tap into some of the energy that supplies this place. It's not nearly enough to power a gate yet, but it is enough to keep the lab running. I should be able to cobble up some generators.

[Carson dislikes gate travel, but if it helps the others get home, he's all for it.]

I wish I could give you better news, but I'm stumped. Ja...The General says I need to take a break and come back to it with fresh eyes. I may need to just work on something else for a while to get my mind back into it.

I could say that I'm okay, but you're smart enough to see that for the lie it is.

Truthfully, I don't know how to feel. Everything else I remember makes it look like I did a pretty good job, Rodney incident aside, but truthfully, I don't feel like I measure up to you. At all. Like I was just... working off your own hard work half the time. But the more I think about things, the more muddled they get, so who knows what's real and what isn't? I don't.

From what Todd tells me, you were working on a viable solution to repress Wraith feeding urges. That doesn't seem like working off of my work to me. Dr. Jackson said that my Retrovirus was completely different.

I didn't expect it would be simple. [Conan would have liked to hope that they could do something, but he couldn't really bring himself to put too much hope in it. Two years he'd been trapped as a child. With only a few desperate hours in all that time to be himself. He was too much of a realist to hope for much.]

Sometimes it's nice to talk to people who know about problems, you know.

And Dr. Keller and I will keep working. A permenant solution may be impossible, though.

We'll keep working. Even a temporary cure might be something. A baseline, at least.

[He is silent again for a long moment. The chance of ever stumbling across a real cure with no knowledge of the original compound was slim at best. He knew that.

But he had to keep on trying. Giving up was not an option. Because if he ever gave up and simply accepted that Edogawa Conan was his life now? It would feel very much like dying. It would be the death of Kudo Shinichi.]

How advanced of a practice do you intend to start? I understand electricity is hared to come by.

Just a general practice surgery. Maybe spanning to Minor Injuries and Illnesses if necessary. Anything more serious should go to the hospital in town or the Clinic in the castle.

I am thinking of emergency space, in case something big happens. I'm asking someone to rig up emergency generators for electricity in this case.

I imagine we could borrow some of the everyday expendable supplies from the castle clinic. We'll certainly need an x-ray machine, but we'll have to come up with that another way.

I'll take the risk and wish up any essentials. It'll be worth any shortcomings the castle can think of if it means we're prepared.
