6th campaign

[Dictated; someone's feeling a bit chatty and also curious.]

Cryptic messages aside, did anyone actually become what they wanted to be when they grew up?

We start out thinking that we know exactly what we want. Then, we don't. School forces us to decide on our future when we still don't know who we are or what we want from life, and before you know it, you're getting your degree in something you more than likely will never use for the rest of your life.

I suppose I'm just wondering if anyone is actually doing something they thought they would be doing.

Do you mean as a small child, or as a slightly older child with a sense of reality about the world?
radiantwingedone: (Must have been quite a miracle)

Partially. I was, and then decided would rather not be.

Then somewhat, in regards to both.

Did you get a card, too?

Well, I did not gold medal, and then my country's government collapsed only a few years into my employment, so... somewhat.

Correct. Because I quit.

True enough.

Knight, although perhaps more properly defined as mage-knight. [ Yes, the sort with a sword and armor, and spells. ]

Mercenary, now.

Well, as a child, I wanted to be a gymnast. Gold medalist, you know. But I came in fifth, I did not medal at all.

Well, yes and no.

[Now that's cryptic.]

Nyet, of course not. My father was a government agent, and I decided to follow in his footsteps. There is no future in gymnastics for a twelve-year-old fifth place Olympian. I started training that winter.

Particularly when the empire you served decided it would be better off without you and your best friend alive.

[That's what happens when people who have been involved in world events reply.]

Actually yes it is. Because although I became what I wanted to be when I grew up, I also became something I hadn't expected.
