a haon - the blood of cu chulainn
[a week and change had been more than enough time to be holed up in the clinic, as far as the MacManus brothers could figure. maybe some of the staff might disagree, but they'd been up and running sooner from worse injuries. the thing that had really held them back had been the unfamiliar territory ... but now that they felt steady and stable enough, it was time to change that.
a quick stop at the room Connor had found with their names on it was all they needed. Loading up laundry duffels with clothes from their bureaus and grabbing a few essential items from the bathroom, the twins sling their worldly possessions over their shoulders and head for the lobby]
Christ, I can't wait to get out in the fresh air...
Aye. ‘Bout fuckin’ time, too. [Connor buttons up his black pea coat and smirks at his brother. Without another word he shoves the big doors open and takes a deep breath of the crisp winter air.]
[the first deep breath pulls Murphy’s lungs tight with the cold, and he coughs as he tugs on a pair of short leather gloves] Arright, let’s see what we got here.... [he shuffles down the front steps and turns to face the castle, backing up as he tilts his head back to have a look, before turning back around to survey the road] Doesn’ look like it’s too far down. Walked farther’n’ that to the plant, I’d figure.
[Connor whistles as he looked up at the castle. Sure he’s walked around inside it, but it was different seeing the outside of the thing. Shaking his head, he strides down the steps and smacks Murphy in the arm] Shouldn’t take us too long, even with you hoppin’ along on one foot, now. [He cracks up and starts off before his brother can hit him]
You’ll see how good my foot is now when I kick you in the fuckin’ face with it! [laughing, he runs after his brother - only limping slightly, to House and Carson’s credit!]
((OOC: OPEN POST! Feel free to run into the boys just about anywhere you please - on their way to the lobby, out on the road, or in the town proper! … Orange has been Murph and green has been Connor. This post has been brought to you by Ireland.))

without warning, he yawns, cavernously, then blinks in surprise] ... Guess I'm beat, then. Pssht.
[he claps Connor on the shoulder and sits up a little]
no subject
That makes two've us. I'll see if there's a place we can crash.
[He wanders off in search of some couches, or at least a few blankets or something they could use. It didn't take him long to find what looked like they used to be the priest's quarters. There was only one bed but there were plenty of blankets, he could make do. He headed back to his brother.]
I found a room we can use fer tonight. [He reaches out a hand to help Murphy up] Let's get some rest, aye?
no subject
Fuck. ... [he instantly crosses himself - oops, sorry for swearing in your house, God] Arright, let's go. ... S'over there?
[re-accustoming himself to the pain, he grits his teeth and heads toward the room he watched Connor come back in from]
no subject
Aye. 's not far. [He leads them tho the room, taking Murph directly to the bed]
no subject
... Thanks.
[he takes the extra pillows off the cot and tosses them at his brother] Here. Make yerself a fort.
no subject
Fuck off. I'm givin' you th'bed, aren't I?
[Not that he minded, of course. He wasn't the one walking on the bum leg. He pulled some blankets out of the closet, layering them on the floor and plopping the pillows on top of them. The muscles in his side protested as he laid down. It took a little maneuvering but he eventually found a relatively comfortable position. He sighed softly, closing his eyes.]
G'night, Murph.

where he'd been reasonably awake before, something about the simple fact of lying horizonally and being comfortable sent the weight of the day tugging at his eyelids....]
Nigh', Connor.
[and with that last effort at consciousness, the twins slipped into sleep...
where a dream was patiently waiting.]
((OOC: Spoiler warnings for the second movie in the dream sequence.))
no subject
Connor was breathing heavily as he raised his eyes to his brother, the remnants of the dream leaving a lump in his throat. He didn't say a word. He didn't have to.]
no subject
in the long silence that followed, he processed both dream and reality, until he came to a suitable conclusion]
Guess we better start lookin' for jobs.
no subject
Aye. An' a place t'stay.
[He pauses, letting his eyes roam around the room. The gears started turning in his head and he looked back at his brother with a small smirk]
Or... [Does he even need to finish that sentence, dear brother?]
no subject
An' a lumberyard.
no subject
Not a bad start.
no subject
Y'know what else'd be a good start?
no subject
Somethin' t'eat?
[Yet, something about the dream nagged at him. He ran through it and the other dreams they'd had and it came to him. Frowning, he moved to sit on the edge of the bed next to his brother]
Murph. Y'know, someone told me somethin' last week. I wasn't sure sure if I believed 'im at first, but th'more I think about it... [He sighs, shaking his head] Y'ever wonder why we haven't seen Smecker?
no subject
But yeah, how come we didn' see him, 'stead've whoever that other guy was?
no subject
Yeah. So this guy says he an' Eunice were here a while back. [He pauses] An' that Smecker isn't dead.

no subject
Well, sure sounds like somethin' the son of a bitch'd do. He's smart as shite. [he swings his legs stiffly over the side of the bed and starts to stretch out]
no subject
Apparently he an' Ianto were close. [He pauses] He knows 'bout us.
no subject
Guess I better meet 'im, then.

no subject
But I think s'more important right now t'see who else might know a bit about makin' breakfast.
no subject
You'd better be thinkin' 'bout findin' some place 'round here 'cause y'must've hit yer head if y'think I'm makin' yer ass breakfast.
[He laughs as he stands]
no subject
[he fishes in his pockets --- and instead of pennies, he comes up with a fistful of Caisos]
... the hell?
