Syntax Error 24

[Today was so weird! OK, maaaybe not so unusual in the context of a magic castle, but Dairine still can't get it out of her head. Something seems, well, very déjà vu. But why? First everyone started coming down with colds, now suddenly her friends were acting all strange. Like they weren’t themselves—

…CRUD.

Dairine grabs a pencil and quickly writes down a brief filtered message, just to test something out. If she's right…

Did you end up sick this morning by any chance?

Figures the castle would ruin the holiday with a sudden illness.

[Then later, after she’s double checked her sources, Dairine cannot stay quiet any longer.]

Residents of Paradisa! By now you’ve probably noticed the large number of people falling sick today. Wonderful timing, I know. Sure looks like a castle prank using regular seasonal viruses, doesn’t it?

Well, I’m sorry to say that the Castle is not the culprit this time! And that this illness is not your common cold!

Now before anyone starts railing on me for crying wolf, I have research to back this up. About two months ago, a group of us took a trip out past the Dead Zone to a place called Lastlook. There, we found a cave which was strangely deserted. There was a study inside, where we discovered some ink-stained notes, detailing an unusual virus. A virus that most likely killed off those living there.

Well, it looks like somehow that virus came back with us.

Here is what we know so far:

The first stage of the illness looks like a typical cold: coughing, headaches, upset stomach… the works. However, later the victim’s mood and personality slowly change, and eventually the “id” takes over. They lose control of themselves.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT let the infected touch you! The virus spreads through physical contact, probably through the forehead. But any contact is suspect!

Unfortunately, no one in Lastlook seems to have found a cure. But we can't let that stop us! We have skilled physicians, healers, scientists, detectives, researchers, wizards, and a whole library full of information! Somewhere, there must be something that can cure this disease.

To those who want to evacuate, message me here. I can get you out of the castle quickly and safely.

Those who want to stay and help can either find me in the library or through the journal. I strongly suggest reading this first. [She writes down the number to a journal page.]

Go well, and stay safe!

((OPEN TO EVERYTHING! Planning, comments, concerns... anything at all! Be aware that Dairine is going off the Lastlook discussions, so some of the information might turn out to be incorrect. Only time will tell...))
