001 Enter the Alchemist

[Sometime after the initial panic of finding himself in a strange place where books talked at you when you opened them, there were no Homunculi or anyone familiar at all, and... everything ever; much later at night after things have started to sink in, there is a polite sounding voice over the journals after a self conscious throat clearing.]

Good evening! My name is Alphonse Elric and... do any you know Brother? His name is Edward and he's the... [little] ...alchemist with a red coat.

[What more can he really say? This is still so overwhelming and ridiculous.]

...I hope I can meet you all in person soon, talking over... a book seems a bit impersonal for a first meeting. [And then, in case that made anyone think he didn't want to talk now, he hastily added:] But it's nice to meet you anyway.

He's a tribble! I've never heard about tribbles before but he's real nice an' purrs.

I've never heard of a tribble either, but it sounds so cute!

[He breaks out into a grin. OMG Al you are so cool!]

[His nerves break as Goku starts to grin, letting out a tinny sounding sigh of relief.]

I guess I am pretty big, huh?

Yer the biggest guy I've ever seen!

[Still smiling, he holds out a fluffy brown tribble to Al.]

This is Pillow!

[Ahhh. Al reaches out and pets the little furry thing, little sparkles of joy practically radiating off the armour.]

He's so cute! Hi, Pillow... aren't you cute? Yes, you are.

[The tribble is pretty much just... there, but it does make little purring sounds when touched. Great first pet for little kids, indeed. (Hopefully it's neutered.)

Meanwhile, Goku is fascinated to see how gentle Al is even though he's so big.]

I got him as a Christmas present. I didn't know there was a thing called Christmas but I really like it.

Christmas? I've not heard of it either.

[He's half listening, the other half totally fixated on this adorable ball of fuzz that is getting petted.]

You haven't? There's this god named Santa Claus that leaves presents for people whp have been good, an' ya can wish for things from him.

Wow, that sounds really kind of Santa Claus. And it really works?

It does! I wished for a lot of things for my friends and they got it! He even gave me Pillow even if I didn't make a wish for myself.

Ahh! You're so lucky, I wish I'd been here then!

[He smiles.]
