[There's a small sigh picked up on the journal as Aradia finishes up her filters. It's so tiresome making up for things she did under castle influence, even if it wasn't technically Cair Paradisa that did it. After a moment, she turns on her annoying courier text again.]

i would like to offer a blanket apology for pretty much everything i said or did while i was sick
even though i have had to offer similar apologies so many times now that theyre starting to lose their potency

and if the castle itself is listening i should also add
please stop manipulating me into doing awful things against my will
im incredibly tired of it
i may not presently have any means to kill you but that doesnt mean its ok to jerk me around
eat me or let me go but for petes sake dont play with your food

Ohh! Haha, you could have just said so. Which ones? We could start with one of those, I don't really have a preference.

The guitar and the mandolin! They're both string instruments.

Oooh. I have no idea what a mandolin is, let's do that!

[She laughs and pulls up a couple of chairs for them.]

All righty. So what, exactly, is a mandolin?

Oh, it's...

[And she's off, wandering about the room until she finds the instrument, at which point she returns to Aradia to show her.]

...This!

[Aradia hops up and sits on the back of the chair while she waits. Sitting normally is for squares! She looks the mandolin over with interest when it arrives though.]

Oh, I get it. It's like a guitar, only different.

Right! They're both string instruments, like I said. Here, you hold it like... [She scrambles behind Aradia and does her best to place the mandolin in her arms properly.]

[Aradia does her best to hold it properly, and gets it more or less right.] Like this?

[Rapunzel adjusts her ever-so-slightly, then smiles.]

There we go. Now... [She shows her how to strum it.] I think it's best to start by just experimenting. That's how I learned. You move your other fingers, too!

Well that sounds deceptively simple enough. [So she starts by experimenting, strumming a few times. The strings maaaay be a little out of tune though, so it's a slightly dissonant sort of strumming.]

[Rapunzel winces.]

Oooh, uh... Here, let me fix that for you!

[She reaches to tune the instrument.]

It's just... You have to make sure it's not too tight or too loose!

[Aradia hands over the mandolin so Rapunzel can do that easily.]

Oh good, for a second I thought it was supposed to sound like that.

Oh, don't worry, we'll get this to work...

[She is determined for this to go well. Everyone should make music because making music is art and art is almost as good as freedom.]

[When it's ready, Aradia will take it back and try strumming the strings again. She is pleased to find a more harmonious sound coming out of it this time.] Thanks! That's much better. Okay, what next?
