Friday Evening ] [ Katherine's Room

[With both women invited over, Katherine set out a few small items that she'd procured from the city and then just waited with a glass of scotch in hand.]

[Lilah makes her way over around the time they agreed to meet at, knocking on the door.]

[Katherine opens her door, gesturing to Lilah to join her.]

I'm sure Tess will be here shortly. Feel free to prepare a drink.

[and almost as though she knew she was being summoned, Tess appears in the doorway with a smile]

Looks like I'm just in time.

[succubitch]

[Lilah smiles at the the new arrival.] So it would seem.

[Katherine steps aside, letting both of the women inside and she closes the door behind them. Her heels click as she moves toward the middle of the room, gesturing for them to take a seat.

When they're settled, she exhales and clasps her hands together.]

Being a vampire isn't exactly easy in this castle. It's not for my lack of trying, but the fact of the matter is that it's not easy to just tell someone that I'm a vampire without the association. Especially considering what Damon and Stefan's presence has placed in this building. I'm not even counting the rest of the attacks and other various events that have placed a mark upon me, without even a single innocent drop of blood being shed.

I've been trying to think of a way to not just protect myself, but others as well. I don't appreciate being labeled as a monster when I've done nothing within these walls.

[Exhaling, she moves to take a seat.]

In Mystic Falls there was the council. They knew about the vampires in the town. They fought to drive us out. They trapped all the vampires in a church and burned it.

I won't let a lack of knowledge place me into that situation again. [Not that she was in that situation in the first place, but she didn't want to risk it.]

I propose a school. I'm in the process of acquiring a building out in the city. It's large enough. We can let anyone teach about whatever they want. We can actually provide a way for everyone to be more prepared for the insanity that this place throws at us.

There are other people in the castle, positioned to try and help others. They offer their assistance, but I don't trust them. They reach out into the city, spread their grasp and then use it for their own devices.

[Her head cants to the side a bit.] Now, I'm not saying that this isn't to protect myself, to ensure that I have the biggest piece of the pie -- but I am prepared to open up whatever grasp I can take and let others use it.

What I need, what will actually make this succeed, is having other people offer their help. I might be able to teach about vampires and how to protect others from me, but aside from the history of the last five hundred years of my life -- which doesn't actually help in a world that doesn't share that history -- all I have is what I am.

I'm not comfortable trusting the residents of the castle with that information until I know that they can handle it. I'm sure I'm not alone.
