So. It's December! For all of you newbies, that means it's about the time of year where the castle starts playing matchmaker yet again. Every year so far there's been some kind of enchanted decoration around the castle that forces people to kiss each other. Good luck trying to avoid it, that stuff is everywhere. Literally.

With that in mind, things can get a little complicated in your love life during this trying time. Maybe you'll accidentally kiss someone your best friend likes in front of them! Maybe you'll kiss someone and realize you actually had feelings for them after all. Or maybe you'll kiss your worst enemy and realize it wasn't actually that bad.

So, I'll be putting a little box at my door -- that's room 405, for anyone who didn't know -- for anyone who needs some anonymous advice about what to do about their newfound feelings, the awkwardness that ensues, or whatever. Trust me, I'm sure at least one couple will hook up before Christmas rolls around. It's a little bit sad that it takes enchanted ornaments to get the love flowing, really, but what can you do?

Of course I do! I always get my friends something. I mean, the point is to give your friends cool stuff, right? [someone missed the history of christmas lesson]

They certainly are! Well, most of them. There are a few new folks who I don't know so well right now. I doubt something will happen if I stay vigilant.

Hoo hoo! Not exactly, Ino, but it is the thought that counts after all. I would be happy with just a card.

Hmm ... well, I guess that means you have an opportunity to make some new friends, huh?

A card? But that's so lame ... what about, like, some cool candy-making stuff?

I really wouldn't call it that, but if you say so.

[A sigh. Fiiine, you get your way this time Ino.] If you would like to get me something cool to make candy with, then you can go right ahead, but you really don't have to. What about you? What do you want for Christmas?

Well, given the coming holiday shenanigans, I would call it a mine field of possible social destruction.

[Okay that makes her laugh a little, you've cheered her up.] Flowers and chocolate? That's not hard at all! I'll see what I can do.

Now that I'm thinking about presents, I'm wondering something. Since this is a magic castle, does that mean some form of Santa Claus visits for the children?

Oh. Well, I guess that could be a little awkward.

Santa? You mean that creepy guy who stalks you and sneaks into your house?

Hoo hoo hoo! I've never heard of him described like that!

Yes, he does sneak into houses. But it's for a perfectly benign reason, and he isn't actually real anyway. I was just wondering if he was real here, that's all.

Well, from what I've heard of him, he sounds really creepy ...

But there was a guy like that with deer once.

He really isn't! The idea behind Santa Claus is to spread joy and happiness to people, especially children. But he's not actually real, so it's more like a happy lie.

So he doesn't come here?

Huh ...

Well, a lot of stuff like that that's a story or fairy tales can sometimes be real. I mean, there's been stuff like gods and angels and vampires and stuff here before ...

That's why I thought he might actually show up.

...Huh. It would be sort of sad if he didn't.

Well, you could try keeping an eye out for him when Christmas comes around?

I could do that, but I'm thinking about the children that are here. Won't they be sad if there are no presents for them?

Actually, it's one of the few nice things it does. The things we get for Christmas are usually items from home.

Well...gosh. I'm still not sure I'd want to trust its presents, though.

Well, nothing wrong with that. For reference, though, nothing I've gotten has ever exploded or tried to eat me or anything.

I'll remember that when I'm being assaulted by something on Christmas morning.

Well, I can at least personally guarantee help in defending against any rogue gifts.
