So. It's December! For all of you newbies, that means it's about the time of year where the castle starts playing matchmaker yet again. Every year so far there's been some kind of enchanted decoration around the castle that forces people to kiss each other. Good luck trying to avoid it, that stuff is everywhere. Literally.

With that in mind, things can get a little complicated in your love life during this trying time. Maybe you'll accidentally kiss someone your best friend likes in front of them! Maybe you'll kiss someone and realize you actually had feelings for them after all. Or maybe you'll kiss your worst enemy and realize it wasn't actually that bad.

So, I'll be putting a little box at my door -- that's room 405, for anyone who didn't know -- for anyone who needs some anonymous advice about what to do about their newfound feelings, the awkwardness that ensues, or whatever. Trust me, I'm sure at least one couple will hook up before Christmas rolls around. It's a little bit sad that it takes enchanted ornaments to get the love flowing, really, but what can you do?

Well, I don't particularly want to kiss anyone besides my boyfriend, but I'm not going to hide in a hole all month.

Not really. The best you can do is wait until there's not many people around or awake to go out and do your thing.

What?! It's for the entire month? Oh god, does the castle feed on kisses this time of year, or what?

...But advice is duly noted. [A pause.] Also, Ino...you did say you were open for romantic advice, right?

Well, it's the second right now, and Christmas isn't until the twenty-fifth.

Yeah, that's what the whole setup is for in the first place. Romantic advice. But I guess I could take other kinds too.

But when does the kissing start? Christmas?

[A pause.] No, no, um,I'm looking for romantic advice, actually. I mean, I don't know if you know this yet, but...me and Rapunzel are kind of boyfriend and girlfriend now. And...I'm really worried I'll go and mess something up.

No, it starts near the beginning of the month and lasts until Christmas.

So what are you worried about messing up?

Twenty-five days. Of kissing.

I-I don't know. Everything. I've never been in a real relationship before, I mean, I know you all the dating thing, but what then? Is there anything else? What do girlfriends want their boyfriends to do for them?

Well it's not like you're continuously making out for all twenty five days.

Remember, I told you, just be yourself! There's nothing special that you have to do, except be there for her when she needs it. If you really want to be romantic you could take her on a fancy date or something, I guess.

Well...that's a blessing to count, at least.

I get the "be yourself" pat, but...yeah, I'm more interesting in how you would go around doing a fancy date. Like, I know you could do a restaurant or something, but what else is there besides that?

It depends on what you guys would be interested in, I guess. You could go to a movie, or go ice skating or to the beach in the seasons room, or have a picnic on the roof ... or you could just go for a romantic walk or something ... really, the possibilities are endless!

Um, wow, okay. I hadn't even thought of all those things.

And how long should a date be Like, I don't want to take up too much of her time...

Well, just think of an activity the both of you would like to do! Then you just do it. That's all a date is, really. Except now you guys can hold hands and cuddle while you do it!

As long as you want! It's not like it's going to be an inconvenience for her to spend time with you. Just ask her if she's free for, say, Friday evening. Then she can make sure ahead of time that she doesn't have anything else going on, and you get her for the whole evening.

Oh, gosh, okay. [Totally not blushing at the thought of cuddling and holding hands, NOPE.] It just sounds a lot more complicated than it is, huh?

That's a good tip! Yeah, yeah, I don't want to surprise her when she might be busy with other people and events, so...

Um, what about gifts? What do girls usually like to get?

Most of that stuff gets built up way bigger than it is. I mean, honestly, at the end of the day, Gale and I are happy to just cook dinner together or something. It's nothing special, but it's fun because we do it together.

As far as gifts go ... most girls like chocolates and flowers. But you should be careful about the flowers you give her!

I see! Aw, that's sweet of you two...

Oh? Oh, gosh, tell me, what sorts of flowers should I avoid? I don't want to get her the wrong ones!

Yep! Or just read together on the couch or something. It doesn't have to be extravagant to be nice.

[she laughs] Lucky you, you came to the right girl! My family owns a flower shop at home, after all. [a pause] Well, what sort of thing do you want to say with your flowers?

That does sound nice...yeah, I guess I don't have to go overboard with everything, huh.

[A flustered sound.] I-I don't know. Like, "You're pretty"...and "I really like you", and "You're the most perfect person in the world", and "You're really nice to me" and...""I don't know where I would be without you", and "I feel really warm when I'm around you and my tongue swells up"...

[And a long awkward pause.] Oh dear, I'm sorry, I'm rambling, forgive me!

No, that's perfect. Let's see ...

If you put together lilacs, sweetpeas, and pansies ... That's sort of like, "You're my first love, so I might be kind of shy around you, but I'm always thinking of you."

Or, you could do a casablanca lily with some bronze chrysanthemums and yellow tulips. That's "I'm so excited and overjoyed to be hopelessly in love with you."
