[ This sound, dear journal, is the irritated closing of a book a little too hard. He still likes books, so its not like he just goes and drops it on the floor or anything, but its a tiny bit of a slam. Another one opens, pages turn, and a sightly more irritated closing and setting aside. ]

Is there a reason that none of the books I am specifically interested in are in braille? [ Gasp, he's speaking properly. ]

Did no one assume that a mage blinded would wish to continue studying? [ This thunk may be Duke's head to the most recent book. Maybe he can get osmosis knowledge. Its a book on magic. It could, right? Right....

He's in a corner of the library, with a few stacks of books about. There's likely one of those nutcrackers somewhere nearby... ]

(Ooc: OPEN KISSING POST., planned and not, Come get him. As he's mentioned, Duke can't see, so he won't know there's one of the evil things nearby until odd urges to kiss people happen.)

[Sheena's in the Library, doing some research on this Christmas thing she's heard so much about when she hears that slam.

Following the noise, she sees him sitting at a table, with his head down. She hadn't heard him speak, so she thinks something else is wrong as she approaches, making some noise so he knows she's there.]

Duke? Are you okay?

... I cannot find any books on magic in braille.

[ Yes, he didn't lift his head to say this. He really isn't happy about it. [

I imagine it's because no one's asked the castle for them yet. Either that, or none exist in other worlds for the castle to pull here.

[ Because a good deal of the books are hardcovered with indented lettering for titles, or soft-cover with slightly raised lettering... if there is any raised at all... ]

[ Which means he'll spend a while searching for things that involve titles like "basics", "introductory", "rudimentary" or even "I" at the end. Weird counting system that uses letters as numbers- ]

[Jade hears him speaking from nearby. He'd met the odd man a while back when he'd arrived and he didn't see any bad in talking to him.]

Maybe you can ask someone to read them for you.

[He places a book on the table; one on magic and in braille. It might be one Duke's already read but it was out of place and Jade decided to give it a go anyways.]

Braille? What's that?

[She's never heard of it, but it's the fact he hasn't lifted his head that really concerns her. She sits next to him, again making soft noises so he knows she's there.]

And is that really the only thing wrong? You're not sick, are you?

... Would rather search the library first. [ He doesn't really want to be read to, you see. But he hears that book meet table and lifts his head, reaching for it.

It must have been hiding from him. ]

Know where was in shelves? [ Hopefully the tap of the book during 'where was' makes the book the clear sentence subject. ]

System for writing so that those without working eyes can read. [ Does he have anything that's in Braille nearby? Give him a moment and he'll find one.

But there's a pause for her question. ]

... Do not think am sick. Likely attributing frustration and acting ... perhaps childish, due to it, as sick... [ He's unhappy that he can't read what he'd like to read and was sulking. He sits up a little more properly to resume searching for that book in Braille. ]

It's okay to be mad. The castle should have more books like the ones you want--if it's going to keep bringing people who need them in.

... It is... [ Ha. He found one. It might be a history book- something mildly interesting to Duke. He'll just push the book over toward Sheena, and collect another random magic book. ]

Perhaps that is the problem. Know of few who continue magic studies after injuries to eyes. Castle pulled - then made to need, own case.... [ He just doesn't like to be mad, particularly about silly things. ]

Only there's a halt to what sounds like him sorting books and he becomes distracted by some history books he'd picked up in braille because he didn't anticipate these answers.

He got absorbed by a book, sorry. ]

[Sheena opens the book and sees all the little bumps on the page.] It looks like some sort of code.

[She looks at him, piecing together what he's said.] No, it's not fair. Tell you what, Duke. Until those types of books show up, how about I read the one you have to you?]

Possibly. Different letter shapes, same patterns.

[ He'll just go silent....

And embarrassed. He was looking for the magic books so he wouldn't need anyone to read to him. Yes, it would probably be faster but... ]

He had come into the library to find a new book to bring to Yfandes and read during the winter nights. They had finished their other book, so he was returning that as well.

He followed the sound of his voice and found the other in said corner, amidst said stacks.]</sub>

[ He can speak like a normal person, he just usually doesn't on purpose. Honestly.

He's frustrated, so he's going to be childish and not lift his head. ]

.... It is habit to speak with less words. Can speak... normally, simply tends to be more prominent when irritated or enthusiastic about something.

[ Although 'enthusiastic' still feels like too strong of a word. Hrmn. ]

... or is focused the word. [ He hears you looking at the books, and lifts his head for a little bit, thinking. ]
