[ This sound, dear journal, is the irritated closing of a book a little too hard. He still likes books, so its not like he just goes and drops it on the floor or anything, but its a tiny bit of a slam. Another one opens, pages turn, and a sightly more irritated closing and setting aside. ]

Is there a reason that none of the books I am specifically interested in are in braille? [ Gasp, he's speaking properly. ]

Did no one assume that a mage blinded would wish to continue studying? [ This thunk may be Duke's head to the most recent book. Maybe he can get osmosis knowledge. Its a book on magic. It could, right? Right....

He's in a corner of the library, with a few stacks of books about. There's likely one of those nutcrackers somewhere nearby... ]

(Ooc: OPEN KISSING POST., planned and not, Come get him. As he's mentioned, Duke can't see, so he won't know there's one of the evil things nearby until odd urges to kiss people happen.)

[Sheena's in the Library, doing some research on this Christmas thing she's heard so much about when she hears that slam.

Following the noise, she sees him sitting at a table, with his head down. She hadn't heard him speak, so she thinks something else is wrong as she approaches, making some noise so he knows she's there.]

Duke? Are you okay?

... I cannot find any books on magic in braille.

[ Yes, he didn't lift his head to say this. He really isn't happy about it. [

Braille? What's that?

[She's never heard of it, but it's the fact he hasn't lifted his head that really concerns her. She sits next to him, again making soft noises so he knows she's there.]

And is that really the only thing wrong? You're not sick, are you?

I imagine it's because no one's asked the castle for them yet. Either that, or none exist in other worlds for the castle to pull here.

[Jade hears him speaking from nearby. He'd met the odd man a while back when he'd arrived and he didn't see any bad in talking to him.]

Maybe you can ask someone to read them for you.

[He places a book on the table; one on magic and in braille. It might be one Duke's already read but it was out of place and Jade decided to give it a go anyways.]

... Would rather search the library first. [ He doesn't really want to be read to, you see. But he hears that book meet table and lifts his head, reaching for it.

It must have been hiding from him. ]

Know where was in shelves? [ Hopefully the tap of the book during 'where was' makes the book the clear sentence subject. ]

It was shoved among some mystery novels, so I'm afraid it's somewhat random.

<sub>[Vanyel almost doesn't believe his ears when he heard that voice. Duke? But... that was not the way he spoke. At all. But it was definitely his voice.

And it was close by.

He had come into the library to find a new book to bring to Yfandes and read during the winter nights. They had finished their other book, so he was returning that as well.

He followed the sound of his voice and found the other in said corner, amidst said stacks.]</sub>

[ He can speak like a normal person, he just usually doesn't on purpose. Honestly.

He's frustrated, so he's going to be childish and not lift his head. ]

I... don't think I've ever heard you speak like this.

_{[He picks up one of the books and flips through it briefly before setting it back down.]}

[Well, that was a rather loud thunk. And a familiar voice because yes, Thamuris was so absorbed in the stacks he didn't notice Duke at the table behind him. He glances over, curious]

...Braille?

A method of writing for those who cannot see. [ Nope, he's leaving his face on the table.

He wants to be able to read things that he likes.... ]

Oh - I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that, though it sounds rather ingenious. I'm looking for books on other magic too, though, so I could read aloud, if you'd like.

[Oh he senses the frustration. He just doesn't care.]

[Dhaos mentally files the expressed interest away for later as he wanders in the direction he heard the voice. Perhaps he would get a few books in braille for the other mage.]

The castle is not terribly thoughtful.

[ If the castle had been thoughtful it wouldn't have taken his sight.

And he's not grumpy at you, Dhaos, really. He's grumpy at the castle. ]

[Understandable. Dhaos isn't fond of the castle himself, and the bright lights and lots of kind of overly cheerful (and often religious) music he can hear in many parts of the castle threaten to give him a headache at times.

...And what are those odd little soldier things the castle seems to have spread about that some people seem to be avoiding? He voices that last question aloud.]

[It takes him a moment to rectify the familiarity of that voice with the confusion caused by the actual, full sentences, but once he does, he's all business about it.]

I might be able to come up with something that would read the books aloud. I haven't tried it before, and it might not be the ideal solution, but I'd be willing to give it a go.

[ Because trying to figure out how to register ink in letters on one side of a page was giving him headaches. ]

[ James is poking around the library, figuring if nothing else he could get some good gift ideas for certain scholarly types from back home, but stops when he hears the guy complain. ]

Crazy thought... but you know you could wish one up, don't you?

Might have been far more interested in mice at the time, but I have heard talk of wishing not being a wise choice.
