[Arya | room filter]

[Tonight, when Arya returns from her nightly escapades, Catelyn will be sitting in the common room, waiting for her. As the door opens, she puts down her sewing and looks up.]

Arya, come here. We need to talk.

[While she was waiting, Catelyn took the opportunity to write out a few filters. She doesn’t expect them to be answered until the morning, but she might as well take care of it now.]

[Those who have been in conflict with Arya + those who would be concerned for Arya’s well being (except Arya herself and Sansa)]

You may or may not know me, but I am Lady Catelyn Stark, Arya’s mother.

I wish to address several things. It has come to my attention that Arya has been...less than well behaved. I do not wish you to think I have turned a blind eye to this; she was raised better and it will be addressed. But I would ask your understanding and patience. She has seen much- more than any child should. Her life has not been easy. It has left wounds that have not yet begun to heal.

[Those who know the true identity of “Alayne Stone,” filtered away from Sansa and Arya]

May I have a word?

[Honestly, most of the point of this filter is to see how many replies she gets, if any at all. She might as well check up on both her daughters at once.]

It is almost a year I have been here. [And a year since she lost her Ned. She starts to say something more, maybe a little of her feelings on the matter, but she falls short.] Strange.

I am glad she has always had someone then.

Mother

[Lady Catelyn is scratched out and in its stead is very fine print. It's careful if a bit shaky. What would Petyr think? She swallows, staring at the word 'Mother' for a time.]

I just wanted to remember what it looked like. [She sighs. The word is almost haunting her, reminding her of who she isn't, of who she once was.]

If ever you leave, and we are to stay, I shall look out for her. Arya and I have-- we have never seen eye to eye, most especially here, but I shall do my best, as Alay-- No, that isn't right.

[Her voice falters.]

I should try and do right by you.

[It hurts. It hurts to be this alone and unfeeling, but she knows no other way to be now. She tries to tell herself she is Alayne, that these are Sansa's feelings. It works for a time, but in moments like these when she wishes for Winterfell, of home and of family, it is too hard to deny it. It is strange to feel this intensely, like her chest will break from just breathing.]

It means little to say, but I am sorry.

[And she can't just swallow back her emotions this time. It isn't a weakness. But she also can't breakdown, she can't just succumb. She closes the journal and heads to the stables now.]
