007 Spells Cast//Dictated

[Jade's holding one of the odd nutcrackers and has taken up a spot outside the Castle. His glasses are perched on top of his head as he's trying to figure the little thing out.]

I've never seen one of these things before. They've been popping up all over the Castle and I've seen others avoiding them. I assume they're not entirely benign in nature?

[It's little mouth can be heard clicking up and down as Jade opens and closes it repeatedly. It's got a purpose other than making the residents skittish, but thus far, he can only gather you're supposed to put something in the mouth. There's no space for storage, after all.]

I can surmise by the name it's for cracking walnuts and other 'assembly-required' nuts.

Though, that doesn't explain why they're all over the castle.

Don't let the name fool you. They don't really crack nuts very well. I've tried!

Maybe they're all over the place because it's Christmas time?

They're called nutcrackers. They're stupid cheezy Christmas decorations so they don't actually do anything but look creepy.

Nnnnnot really. I think if you try to crack an actual nut in 'em they'll break.

Not really, no. I have no idea why they're called that. Maybe they used to? Like... centuries ago or some shit like that. But now they're just made of cheep wood and painted up so people will shell out cash for them.

[Jade felt somewhat... odd when he looked at the man he's spoken with before. An impulse he's never felt before. He remains sitting, but an interesting expression crosses his face before he seemed to look like he was concentrating on something else, a hand over his mouth.]

Well, not any time I've ever heard of. Maybe if they were made of metal...or came alive. But neither of those seems like a danger at the moment.

[He's still standing, looking down at Jade with his hands clasped behind his back, but he's watching the other man's face with interest. Particularly his lips]

Yes, they don't seem to..

[His gaze went to the nutcracker in his hands, then back to Muraki, a hand still holding his chin. It seemed an unwilling decision was made and the free hand reached up to grasp at the other's front, pulling him down to Jade's level or pulling Jade up to his. Whichever got their lips to connect in the end.]

[Muraki is remarkably pliable to this bit of manipulation at the moment, so he bends to accept the kiss, hands planted on either side of Jade's body. It's slow and gentle for him, but he's feeling magnanimous today.]

[It lasts for only a few seconds before there seems to be a pause in the effect, and Jade's red eyes open up again and briefly take in the predicament. He tugs his head back, hand still on Muraki's front as his expression turned to one of slightly embarrassed confusion; odd, given his normal state. The expression washes and Jade lets go of the fabric in his hand, leaning a little farther back against his seat.]

My apologies, I honestly have no idea what that was about.

[He glanced back down at the nutcracker in his hand, a little suspicious of the figurine. He hadn't had this problem before picking the little thing up, given as he was to a lack of care for touching others, much less any kind of affection. He kept his eyes temporarily on the little nutcracker, avoiding some eye contact and assuming that the effect was worn off of Muraki as well by now.]

Though I believe this fellow might be to blame.

Nutcracker - it does pretty much what the name says. They're usually not dangerous unless you're silly enough to stick a finger inside.

[He pauses thoughtfully]

Then again, 'usually' isn't always good enough for this place.

[There's a moment of thought before Jade nods almost begrudgingly.]

I must agree. There's nothing usual about Paradisa in the least. I'm more worried that they're just now popping up. It certainly doesn't make them seem innocent, specifically given their number and the Castle's track record.

Well, it's entirely possible the castle has decided on a bit of holiday cheer after that last little debacle - we had a rather nice ball at the start of autumn.

Is that so? A shame I missed it.

It went rather well, considering it was hosted by faeries. I think the worst that happened was that half the castle got rather stunningly drunk.

That must have been quite the spectacle, given some of the Castle's more peculiar residents.
