Dearest Lucrezia, I have wished up some furs, cloaks from my home. If you would like, I could show you some. With the cold weather and all, you are more than welcome to have one.

[They may not be exact replicas of Northern cloaks and furs, but they are just as warm. She's laid them out on her bed, one by one. There's also fur gloves, arm cuffs, and shawls. It's almost like home. Unbeknownst to her, the odd looking decoration she brought back is the nutcracker. It's sitting on one of her shelves.]

If you are not otherwise engaged, I wished to take the horses out. Arya once said I was allowed to take out her unicorn, Aegon. You were my companion before. I should like to ride with you again, not as far this time.

[She's already down at the stables, brushing Aegon. There's a number of nutcrackers around, unseen.]

I am at the stables if you wish to join me.

[Dressed in fine fur, Alayne has taken her bow out. It's been sometime since she's been out with it. She isn't all that good with it since her last instructor left the castle months ago. It's at least relaxing, to be out and focused.

She's not that far from the castle, working on her aim. Most of her arrows don't hit the tree, but she is trying.]

ooc: the latter is for anyone who does have plans, and I couldn't think of something specific. We can just say there are some nutcrackers in the tree as decoration. Or not if you don't want kisses. Opened to plan and unplanned kisses.

[She dips her head, trying to keep her nerves at bay. She is not one to trust. She put her trust in Cersei and Joffrey and was repaid most cruelly.]

I know not. Perchance if the Lannisters are defeated, then none would care who slew the king. But blame will be placed upon my head, I fear. [There's something else she is leaving out, but it pains her greatly to admit it, though guilt does eat at her.]

[ James nods. He's never been in a situation like this before himself. Hell, he doesn't know a single person that's gotten themselves into this kind of trouble! But he was never that embroiled in the political world and while he certainly wouldn't have minded becoming an Auror if the time came for it, it wasn't like he had these great aspirations to climb the ranks of the Ministry. ]

And the Lannisters are really the only ones that would care about the king's death?

Joffrey's mother was a Lannister, and his true father was her twin brother. He was no true king. [She admits, feeling pieces of her life falling a part. The strings of her life were unraveling.]

[ Well that's... certainly something. It was a twist on the story he hadn't expected at least. If Joffrey is the king here, he's not only from some pretty questionable origins, but also some fairly illegitimate ones too unless the Queen is the one with the blood ties to the throne.

He's kind of guessing that's probably not the case. ]

No he wouldn't be, would he? Did the people know this?

The dead king's brother and rightful heir made a proclamation, but his younger brother claimed the throne as well.

And I'm assuming the first one didn't exactly feel like recalling that claim to the throne?

They both did. Then the Noth proclaimed its freedom, as did the Iron Islands. The war was called War of the Five Kings.

Sounds like no one in the kingdom wins in this situation.

[songsandstories]

[She dips her head.] Indeed, they have not.

[staggeringego]

[ He crosses his arms. It's hard to really give advice here, or say much encouraging at all... ]

But you're out of it?

No one is ever out of it, James. [She could feel her hands trembling, but she remained as ever calm. It is still hard to talk about, but she knows her emotions get the better of her.]

[ Looks off to the side for a moment before looking back at her. ]

Not until it's fixed, is that right?

[She looks so forlorn now.]

If it ever will be again.

It will be.

[ Now that he does sound certain about. ]

There's always an end to these things.

Mayhaps, but whether I live to see it is another matter. [Though she is safe now, that is a better situation than what she was in.]

[ He certainly can't promise her that... ]

You're a smart girl, Alayne. I don't believe for a moment you won't be able to make it out on top.

Many smart people have died already. [Most of her family.]

[ Unfortunately true... many good, intelligent people died during these kind of events. ]

[Before she knows it, she's leaning in closer to him. His words do mean a lot, that he would think of her that highly.]

[ Lowering his head to get a better look at her face, a little worried about the silence considering the situation. ]

[Her eyes snap up back to his.]

[ Reaching out to place an hand on her arm. ]

Are you all right?

[She nods, still looking at him.] I'm well, James.

[ A reassuring smile. ]

[It's after a moment she leans in to kiss him. It's subtle and gentle, but she feels the need to.]
