I feel as if I slept for a week, and on a poor mattress, at that! And I didn't even have something nice to look at when I woke up!

Did I forget to cut my wine with water last night or something?

[ That just gets a startled scoff, and she shuts the journal immediately. Not so much anger at his assumption, but really...she's again having confusion over what the frick she's supposed to think on this whole thing.

It was just a loss. But it really wasn't. It was his whole life, and she had insight into it, and now he remembers none of what supposedly becomes important to him.

[At first, he doesn't realize she shut it, so he just waits.]

[Thank god for good reflexes. Ezio catches her, and actually has to twirl her in a circle to slow her momentum and keep from being knocked over. He chuckles.]

[She clings to him like a strange little monkey, legs clamped around his waist and arms around his shoulders. This is the Stephanie Brown death grip.]

You were on a loss and old and--I was pretty sure it was temporary, but--[there's always the chance...]

What? [He just laughs and hangs onto her. You are a surprising girl, Stephanie.] I'm not old.

No, you're not. [She pulls back enough to look at his beautiful, youthful face. She could freakin' kiss him. She looks around for a nutcracker, then realizes he probably wants to know what the hell is going on.]

But you were. You were in your sixties, and I don't know if that you is really your future, but I hope it is.

I'm just so glad you're back to not being old and gray and remembering me.

[He hugs her back, not that he had any other choice with her clinging to him like a wood-tick.]

I think you are insane, but if seeing me as I am brings you this kind of joy, then I am glad to please.

[Once she's hugged him thoroughly, she lets him go so that she can stand on her own two feet.]

I'm not insane. You know how losses work here, right? They can turn people into kids--they did that to Molotov that one time, remember?--or they can make people older. You just don't seem to remember.

It's been like a week, so that's why you feel kinda out of it.

[Maybe a good thing.]

[He hangs onto her a second longer, then sets her down.]

It's some crazy stuff. You'll probably want to sit. I'm going to sit.

[She's a little dizzy from the rush of YES HE'S NOT OLD.]

[She gives him a look as she sits on the couch.]
