[Dairine has been spending most of December camped out in her room. Despite a slight case of cabin-fever, she is in no hurry to leave. Which perhaps is understandable, given that nearly every time she has snuck out someone invariably kisses her. So in her room she intends to stay, with enough books to read the holiday away.

The castle, though, has other plans.

One moment Dairine is reading in bed, the next she suddenly is dropped into the middle of the lobby. With a yelp and a loud THUD, Dairine crashes to the floor, her comic book flying.

The journal picks up some indigent sounds before she speaks up.]

Seriously?! Couldn't you have at least given me a notice before evicting me?

((Open to Christmas kisses, planned or not.))

[There is a blond haired, well dressed Italian man crossing the lobby when Dairine comes crashing in. He looks concerned for a few moments until she starts to yell. He goes and picks up her book instead, offering it to her.]

I doubt that even if it had, it would not have been pleasant. That seems to be the way this castle works.

Duke stands really still, a small collection of fruits that he'd intended to bring back to his room and eat there, because he's not quite sure its safe to move any further. ]

At least it is not eviction to outside?

[Peeta jumps a little ways away, holding a plate of sugar cookies.]

Dairine? What do you mean? It kicked you out of your room?

[Dairine pauses in her rant and turns towards the familiar voice.]

Oh! Hi Peeta. [Don't mind her appearing out of nowhere. It wasn't intentional this time.] Yeah, it did.

[Smart move. Dairine wouldn't appreciate him stepping on her fingers.

She glances up at Duke (who appears to gathering materials for a fruit bowl) with a cross stare.]

That's like saying that at least the bully didn't shove you into a pool. It doesn't make the original offense any better.

[JUMPS in a pretty embarrassing way at Dairine's sudden appearance. And considering the awkward inappropriateness whatever-one-calls-it the last time they spoke, Sayaka's just gonna...scoot off...which isn't as surreptitious as she would like, what with the lobby being an open space and all. Urgh]

[ He can vaguely tell that he's the subject of attention, and his blink closer to her location reinforces that stopping had been a good idea. ]

It does not. But with your words, you are not soaked. [ He's attempting optimism. It doesn't seem to be working. ]

... Evicting you? The hell?!

Dairine is brushing herself off, muttering insults towards the castle all the while, when he offers her the comic book. Still scowling from her mistreatment, she takes it back with a terse "Thanks." Sorry... Manners aren't her speciality when she's pissed.]

Tell me about it. This is the second time it's pulled this stunt on me.

Seems it didn't appreciate me skipping out on its annual magic spin-the-bottle game. Ruins its entertainment. [She practically spits out the word.]

Yes. That's what happens when you stay in your room during kissing season.

Nah, it's just screwing with me.

If that were the case, it would have sent me home. Or at least dropped me off outside the castle grounds.

[Rolls her eyes. Mark, you aren't helping.]

And here I thought it'd be something inspiring like "Fight back."

At least those are what she wants to say. But she's landed a little too close to Duke, unfortunately, and nutcrackers are all over the lobby. In fact, her rough landing seems to have knocked one onto the floor, scant inches away from them.

She smiles up at him sweetly, already feeling the spell's effects.]

If you would be so kind.

[ Duke focuses, spining his magic a little more carefully to find where she is, and combining it with voice tells him he needs to take a step back. He sinks to one knee, offering his hand in what shouldn't be right-in-her-face. ]

[Trust him, if he had been dropped in the lobby by the castle, he would be incredibly testy too. It is completely understandable.]

Perhaps it would be smarter not to avoid it, if it is going to do such things to you.
