[Stephanie was going to call it an early night, changing into her PJs and brushing her teeth with the intent of slamming her face into her pillow and having nice dreams. All was well until she stepped out of her bathroom and into a room that looked like Cupid puked all over it.]

Not a fan of that guy to begin with...

[And then she spots the other person. Whoops, the tacky decorations got in the way.]

Wait, who are you? You're not his understudy or something, are you?

[You've caught this guy in the middle of just inspecting the general tackiness of the room, mostly with nothing but distaste.

However, he's interrupted by a voice; oh look, someone else. Turning on his heel to face Stephanie now.]

Well, decided against dressing to match the festivities I see. You have odd tastes in decorating.

[Yep totally thinks this is your fault.]

...and to add to that, I don't know who you're talking about, but I am noone's understudy.

Hey, this wasn't my doing. I was just brushing my teeth, and then there's Valentine's Day and some guy in my room.

[At least if he seems lost, he's probably not behind this. Meaning...]

It's not Valentine's Day already, is it?

[A pause as he thinks, then he'll shake his head.]

Not to my knowledge. It isn't for another three days or so.

...unless the castle decided to fling us three days into the future as a means of getting the jump on us. It'd certainly explain...well, a lot.

[Looking around again, idly.]

Don't suppose I could just...

[Walking over to the door...

and there it goes, vanishing.]

...huh.

Oh. That's... not good.

[Steph goes for the window--but that disappears, too. It's not like she was definitely going to jump out of it or anything.]

Good thing we seem to have an ample supply of heart shaped lamps and smelly candles.

Um. I'm Stephanie, by the way.

[To be fair, if the window was a viable option he would've taken it.

Still, seems like they're stuck here for now, so no point in complaining about it.]

[Picking up one of those lamps, looking it over.]

I hope the castle isn't expecting anything from us.

Ah-ha-ha-haa... god, I hope not. I mean--no offense or anything--but this is not exactly my ideal romantic situation.

No offense taken. I'm...not really interested in women, anyway. Or men, either. I'm asexually orientated, so this whole valentine's day thing is kind've lost on me.

[He'll shrug, putting the lamp down and look over at her.]

So what's your stand on asking the castle for things like food? I can cook if you're against it, I know a few people are so I figure I may as well ask.

Take that, castle. [Steph smiles, picking up a rose to smell it. This is all a little too over the top to be anything but ridiculous.]

I don't have a problem with the ghosts. But if you feel like cooking, I'm not going to go out of my way to stop you.

[Shaking his head.]

I couldn't care less.

It's just some people are suspicious of the whole 'wishing for anything' deal. Not that I can blame them.

Yeah, I knew a few people like that. Can't say the paranoia helped them out any.

Paranoia is a dangerous thing in a place like this...

Were you here last valentine's day? I'm wondering if this kind've thing happened before but I'm guessing from your reaction either it didn't, or you haven't been here that long.

I've been here for two years. [She makes a face, remembering.] It hasn't trapped us in rooms before. I think it was something with candy last year--but some people were also hit with arrows by Cupid.

So I'm guessing the most obvious thing happened and they fell in love with the first person they saw?

Yup. Even led to some proposals--which was suuuuper awkward, once everyone was back to normal.

[...eye twitch.]

I'm...suddenly glad for how easy to deal with this situation seems by comparison.

No kidding. I've got no problem passing the time by playing cards or Monopoly or something.

Well the castle certainly provided in that respect.

Although it has an awful taste in movies, I'll say that much.

[And his distaste is evident by the fact there's a pile of DVD boxes on a table, scattered around messily.}

As you'd expect, they're all really awful romance films.

[She goes to inspect them.]

I dunno, we could watch them and laugh at how dumb they are. That's always a good time.

[Well, he's standing there clueless for a second now.

He kiiiiiinda grew up as that one kid who didn't want anything to do with the others, and that didn't change much as he got older. So have a slight hint of curiosity in his expression for a moment.

Ask him about a lot of things, science, interdimensional distortions, fighting. All that stuff. But when it comes to social norms? Yeah, totally hopeless.]

That the kind've thing people usually do?

[She blinks at him.]

... yes? You don't?

[Shaking his head.]

Can't say I ever have.

What do you usually like to do for fun?

[what is this fun you speak of]

...not much really.

Never had the time.

Ah, that type. [She nods--luckily for him, she's used to the all work and no play type.]

Looks like you have some time now.

May as well give it a try, right?

[He walks over beside her, idly moving one or two of the cases around and giving them a look.]

You may as well pick one, I don't know what you'd consider being bad enough to be funny.
