[Stephanie was going to call it an early night, changing into her PJs and brushing her teeth with the intent of slamming her face into her pillow and having nice dreams. All was well until she stepped out of her bathroom and into a room that looked like Cupid puked all over it.]

Not a fan of that guy to begin with...

[And then she spots the other person. Whoops, the tacky decorations got in the way.]

Wait, who are you? You're not his understudy or something, are you?

What do you usually like to do for fun?

[what is this fun you speak of]

...not much really.

Never had the time.

Ah, that type. [She nods--luckily for him, she's used to the all work and no play type.]

Looks like you have some time now.

May as well give it a try, right?

[He walks over beside her, idly moving one or two of the cases around and giving them a look.]

You may as well pick one, I don't know what you'd consider being bad enough to be funny.

Right. That's the spirit.

[She grabs one at random.]

I have no idea what these are about. They're all bound to be pretty bad, so I guess we can't lose.

[She goes to put it in the DVD player. It's pink. The TV is red. Eugh.]

[He catches sight of the color scheme, just about as disgusted with it as she is.

Still, no point in repeating his opinion on it, so instead just sits himself down on a rather tacky looking pink beanbag chair covered in red hearts.]

I never really got the whole romance movie genre thing in the first place. It's not like any of these ridiculously convoluted romances are anywhere near being possible.

Some are cute. Others are just ridiculous.

[Once the DVD is in, she takes the remote and plops onto another beanbag.]

Fantasy is nice, every once in a while.

Guess I never really had time for fantasy.

[Doop de doop, slight pause.]

Guessing you do then? Or did.

[She pauses too, looking over at him.]

Mmm, yeah. I watch movies at home when I can, and I have a lot of free time here since there's no school or [Gotham] work.

I guess my work never really left me with a lot of downtime. Long hours, no vacations.

[And constant danger.]

Still, I suppose that's an advantage of being here. Lot of free time, though sometimes nothing to do.

So where did you work? I'm guessing if you're still in school it was just something part-time.

That sounds like lots of fun. [No, not really. Steph makes a face.] What did you do?

Uh, I work in my college's library. Shelving books. Real exciting.

[Saying this sarcastically, but for a different reason then she might expect.]

I'm a superhero; I beat up villains, save the damsel in the distress and ride off into the sunset on my motorcycle once it's over and done with.

[Most of which is true, surprisingly. He's just one of those "I'M NO HERO" types, so wouldn't really consider himself one.]

I'll bet; sounds like it'd be the highlight of anyone's day.

[A chuckle.]

What're you studying in college?

A superhero? I like the motorcycle part, it's a nice touch. [She grins. Not that she doesn't believe him or anything--she just thinks it's neat.]

Uhh... I'm undeclared, so far. Not really sure what I want to do.

I suppose it doesn't matter too much. You're still young so you've time to decide.

Not like you'd have to though. I never attended college and I got by just fine. I've worked jobs some people study years for just to get the chance to get into.

Are you some sort of prodigy or something?

You might say that.

There's really nothing I can't do, aside taking photographs.

[This sounds... familiar...]

Ah, now I get it. [She smiles.] Is that a loss or something?

No, it's...a personal thing, maybe. Not that I'm bad at it due to a lack of talent or skill, the universe just has a strange way of working with certain people.

You know how some people think things are a sign or hint from the universe, trying to make them realize something? They generally are, and this is one of those things.

[...]

My loss is a bit worse than just losing the ability to take photographs.

[She laughs.] I... think I get it. Sorta, anyway.

No lucky break in that regard, huh?

I'm not sure if anyone's gotten a 'lucky break' with this whole loss nonsense.

Maybe. Some people don't even know what their losses are.

Do you?

[...]

I won't ask what it is specifically if it's a touchy subject or anything.

Yeah, I do. I forgot a... portion of stuff, I guess. Took me a while to figure it out. [But she'll remain vague.]

Hm. I forgot too.

But instead of a portion, it was more like...most things, really.

[...]

I remember my name at least. Most of what I've told you...I think it's a case of I just lost my identity, as a person.

[She puts the remote down on her lap, frowning.]

Really? Just... blank?
