FEAST OF FOOLS

After two days of endless preparations, the time is finally here!

As midnight edges closer, some of the Fools may drag their friends to the stables where a simple and merry feast is set up. Or perhaps it is the lights and raucous noise rising over the sound of fiddles and violin that catches your attention.

Either way, you're here, the new Queen will be crowned at the start of the new year and then the party begins!

FOOD AND DRINKS

Long tables have been set up to one side, laden with simple but plentiful fare of bread, cheese and cured meats, with wooden benches for the guests to sit and eat. Beside them are barrels of ale and beer that can never run out!

MUSIC AND DANCING

The dance floor is powdered with snow and the night sky serves as the roof, cleared before the throne so the honored guests can entertain themselves by the wild frolicking.

A small band is playing on a wooden platform, mostly drinking songs and other simple country music fit for dancing or just bobbing around.

THE THRONE

To usher in the new year, the Fools get to pull the rope to dunk the donkey, that is, the Queen. Have you ever seen a grander coronation?

The King has placed a crown of hay on the new Queen before the both of them step onto the raised platform with a bed of hay, better than gold as far as the donkey's concerned, to preside over the celebration. Offer your respects and congratulations as you please!

[Kara wonders what the hell it feels like to fit in. In all the weirdness of the past day, this is somehow stranger still, and here she stands, sticking out like a sore thumb. While everyone else is all country festival, she's in sleek jeans and a crop top, with an open hoodie overtop. Certainly not new years' party wear, but then again, she's not in a very festive mood.

So there she is, standing on the edge of the dance floor with her arms folded.]

Hmph.

[gottaknockhard]

[Spike notices her, because it's hard not to, but it takes him a while to get up the nerve to approach. He naturally dressed for the event, and he seems invested in seeing everyone is having a good time -- the queen may be insulted otherwise. He has to do his part. So eventually, he clears his throat and taps her on the shoulder. ]

Miss? Are you enjoying yourself?

[kryptonian]

[Kara turns to look. Huh. He's kind of cute. She smiles to be nice.]

Not really, but it's alright. I was thinking of just going to bed, anyway.

[gottaknockhard]

[His eyebrows shoot up, like leaving the event of the year is completely baffling to him. But then he smiles sheepishly, and rubs his neck.]

... Have you danced yet? It'd be a shame to leave before you did.

[kryptonian]

Nope. I'm new here, so I don't really know anyone.

[gottaknockhard]

[He blushes, very slightly, and holds out the hand that was rubbing his neck.]

Would you like to?

[kryptonian]

[She hesitates for a moment, looking at his hand (and that blush!) and then she takes his hand with a smile. What the hell, right? She did just call him cute.]

Sure.

I'm Kara, by the way.

[wheatdos]

[Beer that can never run out?
Don't mind if he does. Holding bottles and bottles, he takes a swig of one open one, being held by it's neck between his middle and ring finger, he hands the other bottles of beer to anyone he finds. Let them be men, women, children, animals... he doesn't care.

Everyone deserves a little bit of refreshment now and then.

In fact he's already straight drunk, laughing for no reason and grinning at everyone with a flushed face and a crooked gait. It didn't help that his thuggish clothes prevented him from walking normally anyway... he was teetering around like a stack of plates.]

Long live the queen! Long live the queen!

[gottaknockhard]

[He beams the second she takes his hand. (He's so good at this!) And with that he starts to lead her to the dance floor.]

Ah, I'm Spike. [Smile smile.] Where are you from?

[kryptonian]

[She follows.]

I live in Metropolis, in the United States. You?

[gottaknockhard]

Me? I'm from Mars. [He turns to face her once he gets her far enough in the mix, blushing again as a new song starts to play.] Although this feels a lot more like home. Especially this time of year.

[huffythedragon]

[Spike is at the food, as you would normally expect to find him, really. What you normally wouldn't expect, however, is the tiny little dragon to be tucking into the meats.

...You know, because meat is murder and all that.

But not today. No, as far as Spike is concerned today meat is delicious]

[kryptonian]

[This guy is so cute...]

I know someone from Mars... [She grins.] Doesn't it get tiring, always shapeshifting to look like you're from Earth?

[gottaknockhard]

[That remark nearly causes him to miss a step, and it takes him a few seconds to realize what she means.]

Oh, no. I'm no shapeshifter. I don't think there's anyone like that here. [He looks a little uncomfortable saying so, and he's quick to change the subject.] Although I don't know everyone. They just come together for the feast.

[kryptonian]

[Oops. Was she rude to say it? Maybe this guy didn't want his cover blown. Kara gives an apologetic look.]

Sorry. Well, how long have you been here?

[gottaknockhard]

[He's smiling again before long. It's like she's quizzing him!]

Over two years. We've had quite a time.

[kryptonian]

Wow. That's a long time. I've been here for less than a week.

[gottaknockhard]

So this is your first time then?

[kryptonian]

First time at a dance here? Yes.

[gottaknockhard]

[He nods.]

I can see then. You didn't know what you'd be missing.

[kryptonian]

Uh, that's one way to put it. I've still only been here a few minutes.

[gottaknockhard]

[Oh, that was a dumb thing to say, wasn't it? He shrinks back a little, turning red yet again.]
