[The morning after Frodo's arrival, Clem comes back to the castle, just as she said she would. She's excited to hang out with her new friend (because you become friends after helping someone get a bath and food), and knocks on the door before sticking her head in.

She hopes he's not still asleep.]

[ Frodo smiles her way. ] We must, or candies.

Or both!

Both and everything else too! [ Mushrooms... ]

Everything else for you, maybe. I can't eat that much.

You must at least try some fresh mushrooms. Even a little of it.

Mushrooms are gross. [NO.]

[ He laughs. ] They are my favourite!

I don't like how they feel. It's weird.

They are pillowy and most wonderful! [ He could write an essay on defense of the mushrooms... ]

But we like what we like. Perhaps I may yet sway you to its charms.

[She quints at him.]

I guess I can try.

[ Frodo smiles. ]

I would ask you to try for me.

[That's not fair.]

I can do that.

Only because I hope it makes you as happy as it does for me.

I won't make a face if I don't like them still.

Well, that's more than I can even ask of you.

[She smiles.]

Are you going to sleep now?

Yes. It feels so very long since I have truly rested.

Can I stay a little longer?

[She climbs over to the other side of the bed, so he can get in.]

[ He slips under the covers again. ]

For as long as would please you!

[She stays on top of the covers, but puts her head down on the other pillows.]

I think I woke up too early.

[She was just too excited!]

[ He shifts to face her though his eyelids feel so heavy... ]

A nap it will be. Then you can wake me when the day is late.

Okay, I will. [A slightly worried look, as she really hopes he feels better after more sleep.]

Sleep well.

[ Frodo clasps his hands to his chest when he sleeps. To be safe. But he goes like a light as soon as he closes his eyes! ]

[Clem closes her eyes, too, and just listens to his breathing for a while. She always worries about hearing that raspy rattle. Even if Frodo is just tired, she can't help but think about Duck. He had been so tired and thirsty, and she hadn't been able to help at all. She didn't even try. She was too scared.

But she thinks she did good here. She helped someone. She made a new friend. It's a good thought to fall asleep to.]
