[Maybe it's all the weird shit that keeps happening that drives Spike to do something completely normal, because today he's outside walking a dog. (The one he couldn't get rid of even after he disappeared for a few days.) Either that, or the dog wouldn't leave him alone until he got out of his room.
Judging from his face, he isn't enjoying it as much as Ein is. Just keeps his eyes forward and walks like a zombie in a puffy coat through town.]
---
[Later -- Spike can be found in the castle lobby, trying to sleep on a couch while a dog is nearby, busy working to get his journal open. It's only when he starts barking at it that Spike looks over to see what he's doing.]
Let me know if you get to the bottom of it. [When Ein lifts his head up in response, he smiles slightly. Sometimes it's almost like he understands.] Or use it as a chew toy. You'll get better use out of that thing than I do.
[That thought amuses him as he closes his eyes and rolls back over to nap, completely missing the soft whine coming from his roommate. The exciting life of a cowboy.]
ooc: open to action anywhere or the journal!

He gives Ein another glance...]
I didn't know you two knew each other. [READ: I thought you hated kids, Spike.]
no subject
Apparently enough. [To get her dog pawned off on him he means. Anyway--] I'll give her a week.
no subject
A week to come back? How long's she been gone?
no subject
... [Time questions are always hard for him. He thinks for a minute.] A few months.
no subject
Huh. Yeah, I don't know, man. If she comes back and you don't have him anymore, you think she'll be pissed?
no subject
[Ein barks right after he asks. Always interrupting... so rude.]
no subject
[SERIOUSLY does this dog know what they are saying. Dog... no...]
no subject
It's a risk. [Ein is tilting is head and staring at Brock now. Pleading for him to reason with Spike or just a coincidence...]
no subject
I guess.
I don't know, man. I'd feel bad giving up Church. [Church is nowhere near as intelligent (???) as Ein, but he knows his name, so now he's staring at Brock, too.]
no subject
She named it Church?
no subject
[Hence why Church is staring more intently at Brock now. Does he have treats or something, what's going on, why does he keep saying my name...]
no subject
Glad to see you've gotten to know each other.
no subject
[A casual attempt at convincing Spike that he should keep Ein. He's kind of cute.]
no subject
That's what they like to tell you.
no subject
Let me guess -- you didn't even have pet fish growing up.
no subject
Maybe if it hadn't cost so much to feed them.
no subject
Yeah. Processed brine shrimp flakes really breaks the bank.
no subject
Times were tough.

I don't want to spoil it for you.
no subject
Thoughtful.
no subject
I try to be.

Brock looks back down at the dogs. Church doesn't really look like he wants to maul Ein or anything, so apparently it's just Spike that he hates. Go figure.]
Well, I should get going. Good luck with the dog, man. Lemme know if you need any help with him.
no subject
Yeah, I'll see you. [Ein's ears perk up, and he gives a farewell glance at Church before trotting back over to Spike. He's going to have to work to patch that one up...]
