[Well, after having arrived a little while ago, North has kept a watchful eye on the communications of others, and he's got an idea of what he ought to be doing.

It's been a harrowing trip--mentally, at least--and he's still slightly confused by the situation. Last thing he knew, he wasn't conscious. And now he's been deposited in a place that's about as mysterious as it gets.

He stands in the lobby of the castle in full armor, book open, and decides to introduce himself. Voice muted by the helmet, he addresses the general populace.]

Don't stop me if you've heard this one before. This is North, and I'm less lost than I am confused. Anybody care to give a guy the grand tour?

[After which point he just shrugs at the damn thing and tucks it away in his armor. With a shake of his head, he takes off his helmet, and begins to wander the lobby.]

I have everything except a gun, and I have Theta. What's that about a loss?

We all lose something when we get here, North. I lost some equipment. York and Delta lost their memories of the Alpha. And your sister lost the ability to use firearms without them shooting foam darts.

Price we pay to stay here. Anything you want within reason, you just have to ask for.

[Then, it sinks in what North said. Theta. Theta is here. The last time he dealt with Theta? He was in the Meta.]

Not that I asked to be here, but maybe it could've been worse. What are we talking about being within reason, though?

Nothing alive. Nothing large. And no weaponry.

Hell, you even can ask the place to customize and enlarge your living space. I know someone had a castle in their rooms.

Well, there goes trying to get armed. And I guess I better figure out where I'm going to sleep, since it's sounding like I'll be here a while.

You know, it's bad when I don't even know where to start. I think I already pissed South off.

And South's had a difficult time since arriving, North. She's going to be touchy. Just be your usual patient self and she'll come around. I promise.

[A pause.]

I know touchy, and I know my sister. This is beyond touchy. But whatever it is, she'll let me in on it sooner or later. Or she won't.

On my way. Also, if you need a drink? The place will give you anything if you ask.

[Wash sighs] She hasn't had an easy time of it. I admit, some of it was my fault.

So if I need a gin and tonic, all I have to do is ask? [He's joking, that much is pretty clear. However, on to more serious things. There's another pause.]

I heard you shot her.

Yes. To both of those.

I'm not the Wash you knew anymore... Epsilon changed me;.

I don't know that I can trust a guy who's going to shoot a teammate for no reason. I know things went to hell, but I don't think you'd do something like that.

It wasn't for no reason, North. Trust me. I just... Didn't want to realize at the time that I was dealing with a version of South from before she stabbed me in the back for no reason.

I know she doesn't want me to tell you anything of the sort. I think she's afraid she'll lose you if you're told what she does in her future.

Different points in a linear timeline. Just what I always wanted.

You realize that even though she doesn't want you to tell me, I want to ask. I won't, but I want to.

[But it sucks when in all honesty he can't put backstabbing a teammate quite past his sister, never him, no, but anyone else getting in her way is in for her worst side.]

It sucks being the one that knows everyone else's future. Trust me.

[Uneasy] I'm not exactly known for tact, North. I think it may be safer if I talk to York and boss before I say something that does irreparable harm regarding South.

I don't want to be the one to ruin things, especially as I'm not so sure she deserves a lot of what I gave her in the past.

How about we all just take it easy until I get the full story? From her, preferably, and then I'll fact-check. Unless you think there's some real benefit to me knowing now.

And when have I ever cared about your tact?

You're unlikely to get it unless you push her. Or get her at a vulnerable time.

Who grew up with her, Wash? I'll talk to her when it's time.

I wish for a bottle of tequila. [Ta da.] It's amazing when you want to get plastered enough to forget things.

[He tries, and holy shit it works.]

I'm gonna nurse this while I wait for you.

[Wash is almost there at this point. With a bottle. Because he damn well needs it.] For reference, Carolina won't approve...

[And there's Wash looking North over.] It's really you.

Well, what Carolina doesn't know isn't going to hurt her, in this case. I'm not big on the big secrets, but the little ones?

[He'll just clink his glass against the bottle.]
