I believe we're in agreement that a parrot would be a rather dubious gift. However, "pirate" could possible be the correct vein. Perhaps some other sort of paraphernalia - preferably one that neither speaks nor escapes via windows.
I was not suggesting you give your girlfriend a weapon, John. That would likely be disastrous. I'm sure that you could apply a bit of imagination - pirates are associated with objects other than guns, after all.
but is still pirate related? ... i don't know rose, i think most things associated with pirates are also weapons! unless i got her a shit that didn't have canons. but i don't think that would be a good idea either. also the only place to put a boat would be the duck pond, and that seems like a huge waste of boat!
Well, considering that it would be a romantic date, I would assume so. I have to say, I don't find myself terribly equipped to discuss what sorts of romantic activities Serket would or would not enjoy. I can only answer truthfully based on my own tastes, which are quite a far leap from hers.
... I'm flattered that you think so highly of my opinion, John.
[Urgh okay now she has to actually make an effort.]
Serket doesn't quite seem the type to get excited over the usual romantic cliches, such as candlelight or jewelry. In that, she differs tremendously from myself. Perhaps take her bowling, or sledding. I'm sure either of those would be competitive enough for her enjoyment. The fact of it being a date doesn't mean that you're forced to brainstorm an entire itinerary of new activities or appropriate gifts. The romantic aspects will occur naturally against the backdrop of a casual outing, and if she truly adores you then I'm sure that any gift would be deemed more than acceptable.
[Wow what even are these words coming out of her mouth. Ew.]
[ Reading this all in wonder, amazed at Rose's ability to just... be Rose! He definitely went to the right person for advice.
Rose is truly a lady without equal. ]
oh man... thanks, rose! that actually makes a lot of sense, and you are probably right about all of that. i guess i should just think up what would be fun for us to do in normal situations and go from there? like maybe a snowball fight? that's pretty competitive so i bet she would enjoy that.

well...
vriska is dangerous enough as it is!
i don't know if giving her more weapons would really be a good idea, so that is right out.

don't you think giving her a hand hook could be really dangerous too though?

A snowball fight sounds like a perfect idea, to me.
Just the sort of thing that both of you would enjoy.
[She's not going to give him any advice about romping romantically through the snow though. That's where she draws the line.]

thanks again, rose!
i am gonna definitely gonna run this idea by her soon.
