[Even though Eridan sure as hell won't admit it to her, his conversation with Nepeta, as far back as it was, left him thinking.
It's hard knowing you'll outlive all the other members of your species in the castle. It's hard and nobody understands.
And now he's tired of thinking about it. He doesn't want to be stuck here for hundreds, or thousands, of sweeps. He doesn't want to get old while everyone else dies of. It's time to bitch to everyone again.]
alright i gotta question to ask
about the castle an i knoww theres probably no point in askin but i havve to
are wwe really stuck here until wwe reach the ends a our livves or wwhat i mean i knoww death is kind a irrelevvant here because people can be brought back to life but
wwhat about wwhen you get old an all thats left is for you to die
can people outlivve their lifespans is wwhat i wwant to ask i guess
i mean its not really applicable to me because i could outlivve all a you no doubt
still
[And then Eridan doesn't know what else to say. Still what? There is no still. He supposes he doesn't want to be alone for the rest of his life, but if he's just going to outlive everyone there's no point in making friends or lovers.
Sigh.
So now that his words are out there, he's taken to moping about the castle. He's wandering pretty aimlessly, looking around as if he's trying to memorize every little detail and fidgeting with the end of his scarf, picking at the threads and, on more then one occasion, chewing on the end of it. All in all he looks completely miserable and mopey.]

You know, there have been folks who've been here for years, and I have a funny feeling that they don't change at all.
I mean, if we spent ten years in the castle, for example, and we grew old, it would be pretty obvious that something happened to us when we got home.
The castle doesn't want people outside of its world to know about it! That's why we can't remember our time here when we leave.
So it's not a matter of growing old.

howw long can wwe really be kept here
wwhat can the castle do after a hundred swweeps
wwill it just get bored and spit us back out because after that long theres nothin funny anymore

I suppose...when we aren't useful to it anymore, it sends us home, but to know when that will be is impossible, or at least close to it.

8ut here, I'll learn you a thing or two just 8ecause I've 8een here the longest!
You don't get old. You just stay the age you are upon arrival.
Well, I guess that's de88ta8le, especially considering there are times where people "go home", as in remem8ering things that happen to them in the future.
It's like the castle is preserving us almost, kind of keeping up the appearances with perfection, you know?
no subject
not that its surprisin to me
i dont think keepin us young makes us perfect it just makes the castle seem kind a like a huge creep
keepin a bunch a us young and underdevveloped

Casual reminder that a sad sack like you shouldn't play aggressor against someone who's willing to look past all the shit from 8ack home just so you can acclim8 8etter.
8ut whatever, I get that you've always 8een kind of jealous of me 8eing one step ahead of you, so it's not like I'm all that surprised on my end either.

When she rounds a corner, she's met with Eridan, and has to jerk herself back to keep herself from walking right into him.]
Oh--! Sorry.

You should pay more attention.

She scowls right back at him, fists clenching at her sides.]
Why don't you pay more attention? At least I saw you first. You didn't even notice me until I said something.
no subject
i should remind you though that some of us cant die of old age even if that wasnt true! :p
so you wouldnt outlive everyone
no subject
that just kinda screwws up evverythin about biology an life noww
no subject
well yes if no one was immortal youd probably outlive most people here
assuming the castle kept you for that long anyway
but "normal circumstances" arent really a thing around here
its like the castle is allergic to any kind of natural order
