[it had taken Dextera awhile before he wrote anything in the journal. he wanted to make sure this all was real; that the whole trip in Wonderland and winding back in Paradisa afterwards wasn't something his mind had created, even though he was aware people who left didn't remember. was it time for another break? it'd be nice if that was the case.

[Spike had inevitably opened the journal once he was back in his room, which was a stupid idea. Whenever he did, he only got more reminders to things he'd rather not speak of. It was a sick impulse that he should likely be worried about.

But when he sees this note, that weird nagging sympathy he's been feeling lately towards everyone in the same boat seems to tug at him, and he writes back.]

It's like when past deeds come back to haunt you. Your karma gets unbalanced, and that's when you run into trouble.

It's...similar to those other times we've been taken to others worlds, though given what comments I received it had some connect to children's stories. Beyond that I have no idea.

You did and it can. Something changed in the last...oh...seven months or so that you've been absent. We find people who were here before when the castle changes or simply just wandering about town as if they had always lived there, and in about a week they begin to remember.

I guess that's good if they can remember. But I wonder why the castle brings them back.

[he knew the castle didn't do things that make sense 99.9% of the time but that didn't stop him from wondering.]

If I had to guess...you may not have really gone home. Do you remember anything more from home than the last time you were here?

I don't think so. My memory is still the same. So are the numbers.
