[All things considered, Ezio has had a busy day, but now he's out and about. He's hit up a dozen or so stores in town, mostly for painting frames and books, and perhaps you've see him running errands.
Later, however, he will be sitting down at his desk to scrawl out:]
I seldom write in this journal. I think that is funny; for every boy who knows how to write, three sit without education, and here I squander my gifts and ignore books. My sister does more writing than I do, and her talent is a rarity amongst women!
It has been more than a year since I have arrived –– closer, still, to thirteen months -- and each day I learn new things about the future, history, science, and even the human body. I do not think many days have passed in the past four hundred that saw me sitting idle and failing to learn!
Yet still, when I spoke to a young woman the other week, she was hard-pressed to believe that I would return to my time, forsaking the knowledge and science and hygiene of the future. I prefer the conventions of my time, and my culture, and I have work to do. So, I wonder, then...
How many of you would go home with another, to their time instead of yours?
I'm going to miss plumbing. I think that is what you call it –– "plumbing." Even after all this time, sometimes it is fun to turn on the "tap" simply to marvel at its convenience. It is a wonder there is so much water about without the streets being flooded like the canals of Venezia.
And I have such good memories of the miracles of showers, with thanks to some of the beautiful women in this castle.

Who knows? I have been led to believe that time travel is possible, so it is wise to at least entertain the idea.

[Wants to switch over to private, but he figures Ezio would find that strange. Ezio would probably share this part of the conversation with Steph if she asked.]

[He loves his lady friends :')]

They are kind of important, especially that last one.

You can spare me the lecture. I ensure you that women manage quite well without them.

I know, but you also have the perspective of your time. Perspective changes a lot as the centuries change. History is one of my favorite subjects, you can learn a lot from it.

And you have the perspective of yours, so you will understand if I do not agree with them. When are you from, the twenty-first century?

No one has believed the world is flat for thousands of years, boy. I know few men who think slavery and child labour are acceptable –– and even then, I would say many believe it because they feel it is a necessary evil. Men in our time do honest work, instead of having machines to do it all for us; we are not lazy.
What you do not know is that my time is the time that will revolutionize yours. I come from a city that has produced artists that you have studied in school, buildings which still stand today and are more beautiful than your own, and inventions that you will someday claim as your own. My own family villa still stands in your time –– how is that for history?
Our understanding of the world may be different, but the "Renaissance" is admired by your time for many reasons.
So do not fucking call me "ignorant."
Ezio.
Whatever, Steph will eventually this conversation and say something about it. Even if she doesn't, in time Ezio will figure out who he is and he doesn't want to come across as cowardly to him.]
I know all about the Renaissance period. The Renaissance was a shift away from believing the divine was behind everything and began a scientific revolution. However, there were still assumptions made back then that were incorrect. I was giving you several examples of thoughts that were born out of ignorance, because you were so quick to dismiss me when I brought up women's rights. Maybe it's a joking matter to you, but it's not.
If your words didn't come from ignorance, then that shows you're just disrespectful. Also, you can lose the swearing and the attitude. People generally swear for one of three reasons; lack of control of their emotions, they don't know how to properly express their emotions, or they are trying to be intimidating. I doubt it's the first two. Save your breath, it's not going to work on me.
I admire your time period, that doesn't mean I'm going to admire or respect you until you show that there's more to you than someone who is full of his own importance.
Tim
I've been here for a year. Needless to say, I have had countless arguments with feminists, and we have settled our differences and get along very well. I am not about to argue with some boy who has just trotted into the castle and wants to "educate" me. And telling me not to swear? What are you, a fifteen year old boy, or a forty year old woman?
Run along.
Ezio.
[Tim would like nothing more than to be done with their conversation, but he promised Steph he'd tried. Even though he could tell she had her doubts about things working out, she was still willing to place her trust in him and try.
Sigh.]
But, you're right. Living in a time period and reading about it are two entirely different thing. You do come from a time that revolutionizes the future.
Tim
[Also, "I probably fucked your great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandmother."]
But I am glad to see you have come around.
Ezio.
Let's not get carried away.
Tim
Who said anything about getting carried away?
Ezio.
It's the little things in life, really.]
I'm just making sure it's understood that while I agree with some of the things you said, I don't agree with everything.
Tim
[He's joking. Most women aren't, and that's just the way he likes it.]
Ezio.
Tim
Is that so?
