[All things considered, Ezio has had a busy day, but now he's out and about. He's hit up a dozen or so stores in town, mostly for painting frames and books, and perhaps you've see him running errands.


Later, however, he will be sitting down at his desk to scrawl out:]

I seldom write in this journal. I think that is funny; for every boy who knows how to write, three sit without education, and here I squander my gifts and ignore books. My sister does more writing than I do, and her talent is a rarity amongst women!

It has been more than a year since I have arrived –– closer, still, to thirteen months -- and each day I learn new things about the future, history, science, and even the human body. I do not think many days have passed in the past four hundred that saw me sitting idle and failing to learn!

Yet still, when I spoke to a young woman the other week, she was hard-pressed to believe that I would return to my time, forsaking the knowledge and science and hygiene of the future. I prefer the conventions of my time, and my culture, and I have work to do. So, I wonder, then...

How many of you would go home with another, to their time instead of yours?

I'm going to miss plumbing. I think that is what you call it –– "plumbing." Even after all this time, sometimes it is fun to turn on the "tap" simply to marvel at its convenience. It is a wonder there is so much water about without the streets being flooded like the canals of Venezia.

And I have such good memories of the miracles of showers, with thanks to some of the beautiful women in this castle.

I have ridden in a "car", but not a "jeep"; what is the difference?

Well, a jeep's a kind of car. They're made to go over rough terrain, in and out of war zones, that sort of thing. Ours have turrets on them.

Sure thing! When are you free? I just need to get the keys from York and then we can meet at the hangar.

Great, I'll see you out there then? It's the big grey structure out on the grounds with UNSC on it.

I am on my way, then.

[South's showing up a couple minutes behind, since for once in her life she remembered to take her motion sickness medication before they got moving. She's got the keys, and is more then ready to show off ~*~t h e f u t u r e~*~]

[He's there a bit late, having been slow to find the place, but he arrives nonetheless.]

Good afternoon, dolcezza.

[i_got_this]

Hey, you ready for a good time? [She twirls the keys around in her finger, then opens the hangar's bay doors. There's a couple Warthogs, a Mongoose, a Falcon, and a half-finished Scorpion. South leads them over to one of the Warthogs and hops into the driver's seat.]

[assassino]

Of course!

[He follows her, but his attention is mostly on the vehicles -- he's never seen machines like these before. He's so busy gawking that it takes a moment for him to get into the seat beside her.]

And you can operate all of these?

[She's waiting patiently, taking a bit of pride at his attention towards what she considers testaments to her timeline. At his comment, though, she gives a snort of laughter and casts a wary eye back at the Falcon.]

Oh god, no. I don't even get in the Falcon if I don't have to. I hate flying, you wouldn't catch me dead piloting the thing.

[She keys up the ignition and the Warthog rumbles to life.] This, on the other hand, I'm definitely rated for.

[assassino]

[He chuckles.]

And I am sure you enjoy showing off your driving skills.

Yeah, there's that, too.

[She revs the engine, then pulls out of the hangar and drives off over the grounds, pointedly ignoring the road. Fortunately for Ezio, she's a much better driver then any of mundane's other muses, so there's no trouble of them running into a tree or driving off a cliff. This might be in part to South's predisposition to motion-sickness and a more ginger handling of the car, but she's still being adventurous enough to give a decent ride.]

[Ezio hangs onto the side, just in case, but his excitement is almost enough to get him to let go completely. He watches ahead of them with wide eyes. He never gets over this kind of thing.]

There are few things comparable to this in my time!

[South would be hanging on if she were in his position. As it is, she's gripping the wheel tightly. She'd gotten better over the years about vehicles, but it wasn't her favorite thing.]

[Showing off, however, was, and she smiles broadly at Ezio's excitement.]

Beats the fastest horse you ever rode, huh?

By miles, dolcezza!

[If he were a dog, he'd be hanging his head outside in the open air.]

[South's quite proud of herself, and she's smiling largely as well.]

Yeah, you should definitely ask York for a ride in the Falcon sometime. I don't think you'd be disappointed.

What is the Falcon?

It was the helicoptor, the big vehicle with the blades.

[he makes a gesture like the spinning top of a helicopter.]

That one?

[i_got_this]

Yeah, that's it. It's a troop transport and air support ship; got two manned turrets and a chin gun.

In my time, a turret is a top of a tower...

In my time, it's heavy weaponry. [Yeah she's smiling widely now.]
