Um! H-Hello, everyone... [Colette might sound just a tiny bit sheepish as she talks over the journal. Have you ever been in that situation where something big happened in your life, but it was a private matter? And then you're not sure if you should be telling people that it happened, because it's not exactly something that comes up easily in casual conversation? So now the time has come that you actually have a question for a lot of people regarding this new development, BUT YOU STILL HAVEN'T TOLD ANYONE ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Life is hard. So Colette sounds a touch... nervous as she regards the journal. It's definitely a good kind of nervous, but still. Nerves.]

Every year around the same time, a lot of people here celebrate a holiday called Valentines day! Its a holiday from Earth, I think, where people do special things for the people that they really care about.

[it's not coming up super soon, but still, two and a half weeks. That's soon-ish.] So! Um, I've celebrated the holiday before, but I was wondering... If you're suppose to do something different if there's someone that you really like, and they said that they like you too, and you might be... dating?

That's good to hear! We haven't talked very much, so I don't really know what you do in your spare time.

Oh. Well, I play guitar and knit. ...Invent sometimes. You know, things I can do by myself.

You like to knit? Me too! It's something that I learned during my time here.

You kidding? Knitting is great fun, and, import fact: a good life skill.

Yes! The first year I arrived, I wanted to make presents for Christmas, so a friend of mine taught me how to knit. I haven't practiced in a while, but it's really a wonderful hobby!

And a great way to give presents. That's what I did for Christmas, people got all the knitwear.

Is there anything in particular that you really like to make?

Well, I have my own special invention that I knitted. It's called a Thneed.

What's a thneed? [. . . she's worried that she's pronouncing it wrong, but it's just a funny sounding word]

It's a fine something that everybody needs.

Everything! [That's not helping either] I mean, anything. Anything you want it to do, it can.

Could you use it as a doggie's bed?

You bet it can, it's easy as pie.

What about that? Could you bake a pie in it?

You sure could! Any pie you'd want to.

Wow, how is it comfortable enough to be slept in, but is hard enough to bake a pie in?

Because of the super micro-fibers that can only be found in one place on my world.
