[Hi Paradisa, have the sound of a pen tapping against the journal]
[Tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap-]
[Finally the sound stops and there's a melodramatic defeatist groan]
Ugh! Fine I give up!
Hey Paradisa! How are you all?
Tell me, what's a good way to kill a lot of time without going crazy? And please, nothing about reading, training or playing in the snow.
Thank you! ♥

When you first told me about that, you said you were supposed to make them happy. Is... that all they know?
Tsuna
The usual story is that the Chosen are the children of angels, sent by the angels of Cruxis in Heaven. The Chosen exist to become an angel, regenerate the world or bring salvation and happiness to the land.
Most people don't realize that the Journey of Regeneration, a Chosen's most traditional duty, ends in the Chosen's death. And even if they do...well, we're not exactly counted among the human population.

[And then he bites his cheek. There he was, getting all emotional again, when he was probably just being stupid and naive.]
Sorry.
Tsuna
When the world is in decline, the longer it goes without being regenerated the more people suffer. Crops fail, there's droughts, there's natural disasters, more monsters and Desians run rampant. And Desians are worse monsters than the regular ones. They shatter the governments, raid villages, take people away to their human ranches to be worked to death or simply kill people as they please. Humans are nothing but cattle to them.
And the longer it goes on? The worst it gets. They even say the world could be destroyed if it goes too long without a successful journey. And it's true, a world in decline is a world with depleting mana levels and well- without mana life can't survive.
Imagine living like that. Imagine constantly fearing for your friends because of Desians or monsters or natural disasters. Imagine never having enough food because crops won't grow. And imagine knowing there could be no world if the Chosen doesn't do their duty.
And all that suffering and pain could end- no more Desians, no more starvation, no more living in fear. And it's all just at the cost of one life that was born and raised for that purpose.
Can you honestly say you wouldn't be the slightest bit tempted to let that one life go?
[Because even Lloyd, for a moment, was]
Zelos
There's so much he's done, and would do for his friends. He's fought so many people, fought against them even when they were considered to be impossible to beat. He'd taken the Vongola ring, inherited the sin of the Vongola-- things he would have never done on his own. He'd come close to death a few too many times.
But sacrifice a human life?]
... of course I'd be tempted. Who wouldn't be tempted with something like that? With the idea that if one person died, everyone's problems could be solved?
But in the end, I don't think I could go through with something like that. That sort of solution... it's too easy, isn't it? That one person has to die, and suddenly everything will be alright? There's always more to it than that. There's always someone or something behind it.
If the circumstances were that dire, I know I'd be tempted, but I couldn't just stand by and let something like that happen.
I can't accept that there might not be another way.
Tsuna
Same old Tsuna, I see.
[It's hard to tell if it's meant to be a good or bad thing. More like it just is]
You don't have to worry though, the whole system's done with.
Zelos
[Oh, he said can't at the end there, hadn't he? He wasn't thinking about Zelos and his world, though.]
Yeah, I know.
Tsuna
Zelos
Of course that had bothered him and upset him greatly. But the other part was that it had happened to Zelos. It had ruled his life. He said people thought he was the child of angels, thought it was okay for him to be sacrificed.
And he knows that bothers him more than he lets on. It wouldn't have come up in that nightmare if it hadn't.]
I just think they should treat you better. I mean, you're still going to be the person that people hope will make their lives better, right? That hasn't changed because the system's gone.
[A pause.]
You deserve better than what they've said. That's all.
Tsuna
Lots of people deserve better. The world doesn't run on shoulds and shouldn'ts.
Zelos
[An exasperated sigh.]
Nevermind.
Tsuna
Just remember-
Whatever will be, will be.
Zelos
Maybe.
...maybe not, though.
Tsuna
Zelos
A-ah, no, nevermind!!
Tsuna
It means there'll always be things outta your control that you can't change - no matter what.
All you can do is accept that and do your best in the things you can control.
