It seems that many people have been leaving the castle recently.   I wonder how many us will be gone before the end, leaving no hope of ever meeting again.

One goes alone.  I suppose this is true once again.   I know this is my task... that this is the duty that the Light left for me.  But I wonder  if it will ever grow easier to bear.  Did Merriman learn to deal with such leavings as well?

I just didn't think that was something to worry about here at the moment.

Some day there will be an ending even to this castle. But for now I am speaking more of the people who leave. It may well be that we will never see them again.

I will always remember. [Though Will knew that not everyone would remember him. Just as he had been forgotten by so many in his own world.]

No more than would be gone in an ordinary life, I think. It's just the way of things - nothing ever stays the same, in the long term.

No, I suppose not. It is still sad, to see people leave like this.

There's always hope, even when you think it's all gone. It's still there.

There are some things that simply are. That cannot be changed, no matter how much hope there might be.

Sometimes, you just hope you'll find comfort in the smaller things. It's a funny thing, hope, even when everything is darkest, it's still there.

Like goodness and mercy and humanitarianism, hope is one of those things that humans may hold onto. It gives them the ability to live in peace with one another, even in the darkest of times. But they are for humans. For my kind there is only our duty.
