THE EVENT HORIZON - DAY TWO

[Something during the night has activated the ship's gravity core. There seems to be no evidence as to what caused it. Everything within the ship remains stable, but the ship itself shakes violently, and deep in the bowels, a ominous rumbling sound can be heard]

[He's not following her, pe se, but he is behind her. The only way to tell that he's not following is that he's not even facing her; he's staring intently down the hall, into the darkness, his hands in his pockets.

Her voice draws his attention, though, a slow swing of his head from the hall towards her. He stares at her for a long moment before he speaks.]

Don't bother.

[For once, it's not mocking or sarcastic. He's very serious.]

[ she turns at the sound of his voice, frowning at him like he's crazy. what the hell. ]

Don't bother stopping them? Dude, if they're hurting someone, I'm gonna make them stop.

[ she's only half-serious about the killing thing. if she has to, she will do it. ]

Don't bother warning them. Assuming there's even a 'them' to be warned or stopped, which I'm not convinced there is. [He swivels suddenly to look back down the hallway, and his carefully controlled volume trips on agitation.] It's so obvious, so banal, I'm almost disappointed. Noise, all of it, why can't anyone see that, if you would just--

[He stops abruptly, his jaw clenching. He takes a slow breath, and turns back to face her. He forces himself to dole his words out slowly, deliberately.]

Either way. It's not as if you're going to scare them off.

[ he's definitely reminding her of james right about now. ]

If there is or isn't, at least they've been warned. What happens next isn't my fault.

Better to give them a chance to be smart.

Look around you. What are the odds that something attacking you is going to listen, or care? You're better served saving your breath and your location.

I know better in general. It would make everyone's lives easier if people would just listen.
