[She's in a place called Paradisa, and while it's beautiful, she's been warned about it by more than one person. Had she gone from one cage to another? It's an alarming thought. Things still don't make sense to her--she hasn't seen a tear, yet, but she supposes she's not looking in the right places. She's spent her time flipping through the pages while walking the grounds and city.

The journal was used for communication, she was told. Talking into a book is a strange feeling, but there's no harm in it, she supposes.]

Hello? Oh. [Okay, we've got it writing down her words. She assumes that's good!]

Booker? Are you here? It's me, Elizabeth. Please say something if you--hear this.

[A pause. Other people can hear this, too! That's exciting.]

And hello to everyone else. I've never seen anything like this before. And by this, I mean just about everything here. It's a lot to take in, but I think I've got a good grasp of the basics.

It makes a change, having people actually bother to learn a thing or two before screeching all over the journal. What a breath of fresh air.

Is it? How does it usually go?

Usually a lot of panicking. Maybe a little threatening. Mostly a lot of denial.

Can't say I blame them. This isn't exactly what you expect to happen to you on a normal day.

True, I doubt anyone could say being kidnapped by a magical, soul-eating castle was a regular Wednesday or anything.

It's pretty much a theory, but that's what people think the castle does. Feeds off our souls.

To what purpose?

For it's own sick enjoyment perhaps? No one seems to be sure.

I wasn't aware castles could enjoy things.

You'll find this castle is not like any other castle you'll have heard of.

So I'm beginning to see. It's all quite the mystery, isn't it?

It is, and every time we thing we're getting an answer, we have a thousand more questions.

Do we even know who built this place?

Not really. I remember someone mentioning something about a knight and a dragon and suchlike, but that might have been different castles.

One big question mark... and these journals. I don't suppose we know how these work, either.

Magic, it's the only explanation we've been given. Watch them, though. They have a tendency to open when you don't want them to, and sometimes they even break.

That could be troublesome. If not very awkward and embarrassing...

But what do you mean by break? They fall apart?

That's generally how people get with them, yes.

No, the filters can sometimes fail, or the language setting has broken once.

[A little gasp.] Oh, that's right... It's a little too convenient that we all understand each other, if we're all from different worlds. I hadn't thought about that.

Hmmm, there's some sort of magic that lets us speak. I've only seen it turned off the once, for a few days, but it was inconvenient to say the least.

Strange. So we're meant to communicate with each other.

That's what it wants, by the looks.

I'm not sure what to think about that, frankly.

I'd be grateful. It'd be terrible lonely, spending years here not being able to communicate with anyone.
