[She's in a place called Paradisa, and while it's beautiful, she's been warned about it by more than one person. Had she gone from one cage to another? It's an alarming thought. Things still don't make sense to her--she hasn't seen a tear, yet, but she supposes she's not looking in the right places. She's spent her time flipping through the pages while walking the grounds and city.

The journal was used for communication, she was told. Talking into a book is a strange feeling, but there's no harm in it, she supposes.]

Hello? Oh. [Okay, we've got it writing down her words. She assumes that's good!]

Booker? Are you here? It's me, Elizabeth. Please say something if you--hear this.

[A pause. Other people can hear this, too! That's exciting.]

And hello to everyone else. I've never seen anything like this before. And by this, I mean just about everything here. It's a lot to take in, but I think I've got a good grasp of the basics.

Hmmm, there's some sort of magic that lets us speak. I've only seen it turned off the once, for a few days, but it was inconvenient to say the least.

Strange. So we're meant to communicate with each other.

That's what it wants, by the looks.

I'm not sure what to think about that, frankly.

I'd be grateful. It'd be terrible lonely, spending years here not being able to communicate with anyone.

[That hits home.] It'd be a pretty prison.

It's already a pretty prison. We just have other inmates to talk to, this way.

Conversations are pretty fun. I used to only have a giant bird to talk to. Not the best when it comes to chatting.

A...giant bird?

As in an actual bird?

[What the hell]

Oh, no. He's mechanical.

[Because that makes more sense, right?]

...You owned a giant mechanical bird?

No, I didn't own him. He's more like... my warden, I suppose. My keeper.

So he kept you trapped...wherever it is that you lived?

That's right. I lived in a tower... but not anymore. I got out shortly before coming here.

And... now I have a castle tower to live in.

...Well that's a bit of a bugger. From one cage to another.

It's a trend I'm not interested in following, but it looks like there's not much I can do about it right now.

Least you can try and be as free as you can here. Aside from the whims of the castle, we're mostly left to ourselves.

No doubt we're being watched, though. Or listened to, at the very least.

Hmm. Sometimes, you'll hear it talk to you while you sleep. Hard to make out the words, but it likes to whisper to you. Creepily.

... no one's mentioned that before.

No? I guess they didn't want to ruin the ambience of the place.

And by that you mean the headache that is all the mysteries.

Of course, mine is just a less fancy way of saying it.
