[The celebration continues in Paradisa. With so much going on, it's easy to catch the excitement high spirits that seems to be spreading among the townspeople--and even the residents.

In the courtyard, the same bright, inviting lights remain.

The two figures from before have left, replaced by two more. They stand poised, almost as if they are waiting to be approached. Will you?

Just past the gates, there seem to be an endless row of crates filled with various fireworks of all shapes and sizes. It seems Paradisa may be hinting at something.]

[Standing not far away under a similar light is a man, tall and proud and well on in his years. His robes of red are well kept, proudly displaying a symbol resembling flames that might be recognizable to few.

Will you acknowledge this spirit?]

[Vereesa approaches the man out of curiosity, paying special attention to the symbol on his clothing. He must be of great importance to be recognized during this holiday, so she bows before him to give him the respect he likely deserves.

She smiles as the man bows in return.]

What tales you must have. If only you could share them with us.

[ She doesn't come too close, but she is curious. Maybe she should stay the week at the castle after all. She wants to know what this is all about. ]

[Felix stands close by, his eyes narrowed at the figure.

While it may no be obvious, the wizard is attempting to discern if they were ghosts or illusions, or something else entirely]

Pretty neat, huh?

[Dairine walks up and stands next to the other wizard, with Spot following right at her heel on his thin spidery legs.]

[He glances at Spot, arching a brow, then back at the spirit] Not precisely the word I'd use, but it is interesting.

Can you tell what they are?

[Dairine stares at the apparition. She had been watching him (it?) for a while, but now that she was closer, Dairine could see whole a lot more details. Still…]

Not at this distance. Got any ideas?

It's hard to tell, since everyone here can see them. Usually ghosts...spirits...shades...whatever you wish you call them...are invisible to normal sight.

Usually, maybe. That depends on what kind of spirits we are talking about. And most "ghosts" back home are just strong memories or emotions imprinted on the physical world.

True enough. Sometimes there is more to it. They can also be called back, with magic.

[Don't give her ideas!]

Not something I've had experience with. It seems like it would take a great deal of power.

[If she has idea, Felix wants to know what they are]

I don't see why. It can't any more than some of the admittedly astounding things I've seen you and others accomplish with magic. Calling up a ghost seems minor in comparison.

[wizard_redfive]

[No he doesn't. They would not be the good kind of ideas.

Dairine shakes her head.]

Remember that Oath I showed you? The part about not changing any creature without need acts as a safeguard against certain kinds of spells. I would need consent to do anything like that.

If only that were the case in my own world. There are plenty of good reasons to ban necromancy, but after having talked to a ghost who was called back through it, I only need that one. Not everything possible needs to be attempted.

[Dairine nods.] Definitely. There are plenty of potential damaging spells out there, either to the wizard, others, or the surrounding environment. Best to look at the risks wisely before starting anything.

Sadly, not everyone does. We're human like anyone else, and we make choices out of...desperation. And anger. And simple idiocy. Our mistakes, however, are often proportionally larger.

[wizard_redfive]

[Dairine is quiet for a moment. She's made her own share of mistakes throughout the years. Luckily, most of them worked out in the end.]

Yeah, I know. We're not perfect, not even non-human wizards.

[lord_wizard]

Non-human wizards? Are there a lot of those? [Subject change. Yes, good...]

[Dairine can't help but laugh at that.]

A lot? Nearly every species has wizards!

[lord_wizard]

[He smirks] Well, I beg your pardon, but the only ones I've ever met have been human. Though, not quite the same as you, of course.

[wizard_redfive]

Of course. [Dairine is one of a kind.]

I'd say that's odd, but the castle does seem to be strangely selective in its occupants, so perhaps not.

[lord_wizard]

Indeed.

Have you met any other wizards in your own world? Non-human ones, that is.

[wizard_redfive]

Oh sure. There's Rhiow and Urruah... they're cats. They work at the local worldgating complex, so I see them often enough. My sister has a few whale wizard friends too, though I've only met the humpback.

...whales? I can't even begin to fathom...

[Hm. This is the first thing he sees that prompts him to properly get a better look, coming in closer and standing before the figure. There is something about him, he could not describe it, but the image simply feels strong.

He does nothing though. Only looks upon him with the respect he can only imagine it deserves. And perhaps nod his head to him. The nod in return is somewhat surprising, but pleasantly and perhaps encouragingly so]
