[The celebration continues in Paradisa. With so much going on, it's easy to catch the excitement high spirits that seems to be spreading among the townspeople--and even the residents.

In the courtyard, the same bright, inviting lights remain.

The two figures from before have left, replaced by two more. They stand poised, almost as if they are waiting to be approached. Will you?

Just past the gates, there seem to be an endless row of crates filled with various fireworks of all shapes and sizes. It seems Paradisa may be hinting at something.]

[There is a tall dude in a dark coat rummaging through those crates. Is he participating? Wow, he looks pretty eager.

Oh wait.

No, he's just gathering them up and carrying them off.

Is it still stealing if you take it from the castle.....?]

[At first she thinks he's just gearing up to take part in the competition but Vivian soon realises that's not the case.

This is her following after him to see what he's up to.]

[YES VIVIAN. FOLLOW THE TALL DARK STRANGER WITH HIS ARMS FULL OF EXPLOSIVES. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG.

He walks a fair distance away from the crowd -- and then stops, abruptly. He doesn't do anything else, at least not immediately. Just stands there with a bunch of fireworks. WHAT DO, VIVIAN?]

[She doesn't want anyone to get blown up by said tall, dark stranger. Besides, she's got her gun on her...on safety of course.

Just what on earth was he doing? Stopping so suddenly like that.

Vivian comes to a stop a few feet away.]

Not taking part in the competition?

[He glances over his shoulder at her... and smiles, totally unperturbed.]

Not exactly, no.

[He dumps the fireworks on the ground.]

[formersocialite]

[The smile isn't returned by her.]

Then what are you doing?

[She watches as he dumps them on the ground.]

Hardly your concern, is it?

[formersocialite]

Humour me.

[workaphilic]

[He shrugs. He doesn't really care all that much, honestly.]

Experiment.

[formersocialite]

That requires fireworks?

[workaphilic]

No, I'm just in the practice of celebrating after every successful experiment. Of course it requires fireworks.

[He drops into a crouch and starts poking at them. SAFETY??]

[formersocialite]

You know, most people celebrate a success with a few drinks..

[Okay, that's not good. Her eyes are glued to what he's doing because yes, she's worried about their safety.]

Something tells me that you don't fit into that category.

[workaphilic]

What category? "Most people"? [A huff of laughter.] No.

[formersocialite]

At least tell me you know how to use fireworks safely.

[workaphilic]

Of course I know how to use them correctly, it isn't as if it's complex.

[formersocialite]

Then I suppose I've nothing to worry about. [She hopes.]

[workaphilic]

Didn't say that.

[Is he joking? He's probably joking. Right.......?]

That's funny.

[She laughs a little. Nope, she's not nervous, not at all.]

Perhaps you should giggle nervously a few more feet away, then.

I'm not nervous. And it was a laugh, not a giggle.

[There's a POP and some sparks. Nervous now?]

[A little, considering that she jumped.]

Give a person some warning, yeah? Who are you anyway?

You followed me. Don't see why I should feel obligated to warn you of anything.

[He grins at her over his shoulder.]

I followed you because I thought you were going to misuse the fireworks.

[Admittedly, he has a point but Vivian isn't going to say that out loud.]

I'm Vivian Volkoff. Might as well pay you the same courtesy by saying who I am.

Well, Ms. Volkoff. [A rapid-fire series of pops.] Have I lived up to your expectations?
