Day One: The tour

[when the residents finally get to the camp, they'll see that a bunch of people with goat feet are waiting for them. Some of these satyrs are shirtless while others are wearing an orange T-shirt with the words "Camp Half-Blood" printed on them.

One of the satyrs steps forward and greets everyone with a relieved smile]

Welcome to Camp Half-Blood! Thank the gods you all made it here safely. For so many demigods to travel here together safely is unheard of! Surely this is a good omen. Please, follow the satyrs as they show you around camp and take you to your cabins.

The Pine Tree

This pine tree marks the border of our camp. For your own safety, do not go beyond this point. But don't worry, we have our brave guardians here to protect our borders!

[Cassie is out here, a blonde in a bright orange t-shirt amid a sea of green grass. She's got a bunch of miscellaneous armor on, too, and shorts under her gladiator skirt. She's looking out at the land beyond the camp's borders... a little wistful, a little relaxed.

She runs her fingers through her hair to get it out of her face.

Another year at camp.]

Not planning any other escapades, are you? [Kat doesn't put anything past Cassie, obvious contempt in her voice as she approaches. She's similarly dressed, and the silver of her prosthetic right arm gleams in the sun.]

[triumph]

[She looks up, expression souring a bit.]

For your information, no. Why would I? It's one thing to go to save someone's life, which is what we were doing, by the way. It's another thing to go out and risk death just because you can.

[Awful tempting, though, instead of being stuck in this life of eternal summer camp. No wonder few demigods live to be adults, when it comes down to Camp Half-Blood or mortal peril.]

Right. Travis's grandmother-uncle-brother in law-whatever. So chivalrous of you. [Nope, not buying it.]

[She looks out over the view as well, though. It could be stifling here, but the alternatives weren't that great.] Just don't get anymore stupid ideas in your head. I know it's hard, but at least try.

[triumph]

[She gets up to her feet, eyes narrowed. The golden lasso hooked to her belt glows a bit brighter.]

What is with you? What's flown so high up your butt that you can just stand there and criticize those of us who want to go out and use our powers for good? Are you just that in love with this camp, or does your daddy spoil you so much you can't think of anyone else?

[Kat stands her groung, looking down at Cassie almost dismissively, but she moves her hand to rest on the hilt of the bastard sword on her hip.]

Please, 'use them for good'? You just think it's a joyride out there. You and those two baboons you hang with. I'm surprised you've lasted this long.

[Cue one toga wearing kid that survived running up that hill. Because really, not directly referencing the song in the fluff text would be a grave infraction on my part. And of course, hunches over when he reaches the top, grabbing his breath.]

Same hill every year for you, huh? [Standing back up fully now and smiling]

[Cassie looks over her shoulder at him and smiles.]

Hey, I like this hill, and if it works, why change?

Well, variety is the spice of life. Stuff like that. Still, it's a pretty darn good hill. Guess you can't really go wrong with it.

Yup.

[Her look grows a little more concerned.]

How are you doing, after all the... well. With your family.

[Ah, right. That. He will never forget that night, no. And he turns his head downwards, and then looks to the side]

Still hurts, thinking about it. I tend to blame my self.

[Percy has come up to the tree to check up on the Fleece. When he sees this girl, he just stares]

Cassie...? What are you doing here?

[triumph]

[Cassie looks over, eyes widening a touch, but she smiles.]

What I usually do? I should be asking what YOU are doing here -- I didn't know the summer campers were here yet.

[waterproofed]

Ummm. [incredibly confused here]

So you usually hang out here by Thalia's tree?

[triumph]

Yeah.

[Blink.]

Are you alright?

[waterproofed]

I guess so. I just... haven't seen you in a long time. Or this place.

[midget]

[ And there's a little girl sitting under the tree. She looks human, thanks to her penchant for illusions, but she didn't bother making illusionary shoes for herself, so she's noticeably barefoot.

It almost looks like she's sleeping, except for the fact she has one eye cracked open and seems to be grumbling to herself. ]

I thought I was done with this crap. "Go guard the school," they said. "You'll be done in three years." My ass.

[Oh, look. There's someone out wandering by the tree. Trying to get past the border?

What do, guardian. What do.]

[ Absolutely nothing. Sheesh, it's not like she signed up for this. ]

Hey. Where do you think you're going?

[ ....Why did she say that? /sigh ]

[That's the best kind of guardian! The one who doesn't do anything.

And Katniss will just be quietly ignoring that as she continues along on her merry way of exploring this border, because when has she ever listened to what anyone told her?]
