[ James has been walking around the castle for the better part of the night, sticking up fliers wherever he can find space. All of them feature the same thing, a stock wizard photo James has found of a recreation Quidditch team tossing a Quaffle back and forth as they fly around above the pitch with the large words QUIDDITCH PRACTICE ALL DAY TOMORROW charmed to flash between red and black to get people's attention.

He's still hanging these up by the way, so feel free to bump into him, or tear them down since gosh these things are kind of an eyesore.

For now he's dictating into the journal as well. ]

Well now as much fun as all this secret sharing business has been so far, how about something a bit different? For all you with the constant complaint about being bored meet me out on the front lawn bright and early tomorrow morning. I think I've got just what you need to fix that problem.

True enough! Though there's no harm in getting up on a broomstick for a short while just to test the waters while you're there.

[ Laughing at that comment. ]

Figured I might use something more on their level, not let them feel so bad when it turns out I'm the only Quidditch player worth his salt around here.

[Alex is on her way downstairs when she catches sight of the poster. "Practice" isn't really her thing, but James is, so she stops for a moment to watch over his shoulder.]

What the heck's a quidditch?

[ Glancing over his shoulder at her and grinning. ]

Best game you'll ever hear of. Stop by tomorrow and I'll explain the rules proper.

Rules? Hm, that doesn't really sound like my thing.

[She doesn't leave, though. She's curious.]

[ A laugh. ]

Try it out, maybe I can convince you it's your thing after all.

Well, now I'm not exactly the kind of bloke to be interested in this sort of thing, but I s'pose I'll try to pop down tomorrow morning just to watch, eh?
It'll be entertaining watching you trying to teach.

[ A scoffing sound. ]

Between you and Percy. Really, Moony, getting up on a broom for once won't kill you.

[ In other words COME ON, BUDDY! He needs people to join in! ]

[ He just chuckles quietly at him. ]

No thanks. I like my feet planted firmly on the ground, thank you.
I can, however, offer assistance by acting as a referee for you? I'll say you need one.

Now there's something useful. I wouldn't say no to having an official one for any games we start up. Though you'll have some time doing all of it from the ground.

[patching_up]

[5, in a meager attempt to not be a burden on people and ask them to carry him around all the time, is wandering down the sixth floor hallway. Catching sight of a stranger tacking up posters, he pauses mid-step to blink his lone eye up at the human and especially at the glaring, flashing letters he's pasting on the wall.]

Er... what's that? "Quidditch?"

[The voice that greets James is especially small, and seems to be coming from ground level.]

Action!

[ Looking around, confused for a moment before glancing down. He blinks a couple times before kneeling down so he's closer to five's level. ]

Hello there. What was that you were asking?

Action!

[He seems a little surprised by such a simple greeting, as though he expected James to be baffled by him-- because, so far, everyone else has been. But then again, no one else has been a wizard. Not that 5 knows wizards even exist, granted...]

What are those posters for? I don't think I've ever heard of Quidditch.

[ It's true, most people probably don't come from worlds where little creatures like this running around really aren't all that surprising to see. Or at least if they don't know the parts of their worlds where this kind of thing isn't abnormal. ]

Quidditch? Well it's a sport of course. Played on broomsticks.

[She chuckles]

I don't know how good I'd be at playing but if you need any hand from someone else who already knows how to fly a broom.

Considering no one here seems excited to get up on a broom in the first place I'll certainly need some help with training if you're interested.

[She laughs.] I'm not surprised. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did the first time I did it.

The one thing I'm curious of - do you think non-magical people would be able to use them? I don't really have any experience with that in particular and, well, brooms might work completely differently in our worlds.

Should be if I made them right. Might not have the natural affinity for it, of course, but I did take that one into account when making the brooms.

Is this the thing with the brooms again? [oh man oh man] It is, right? Yes!
