DLN 005 - Ice [Action/Dictated/Forward dated to this evening]

[Protoman had shut down in the middle of the great escape attempt at Holly Peaks. When his systems came back on line it was easy to see he wasn't still in the retirement home. Had they actually managed to pull it off? His fragmented memory couldn't recall exactly how the event had ended, it was certainly possible. He had his freedom, that was all that mattered.

And what did he do with this freedom? He pulled his old and worn joints out of the room he was in and to the roof of the castle to watch the sun set. He sat against his white oval shield, the sun reflected through the cracked visor of his battered helmet. This felt right.]

As quaint as that place was, I prefer to be able to do as I please.

That's right, you're a robot, aren't you? I guess it makes sense that your memories might be a bit fuzzy, with the castle messing with you the way it is.

[He scratches his head.]

There is something I wanted to tell you though. That man you spoke to...the older me. That's...really not at all what I'm really like. I think...the castle was just showing me what I could be, if things go wrong with me.

[He simply nods in response to the first part. His memory was fuzzy before he left Holly Peaks, it just seems to be more fragmented than even he knew. The best he could really do is wait it out and hope things cleared up. Evan's next comment got him a bit curious.]

Appearance aside, the both of you don't seem to have a lot in common.

[He sighs. Protoman was telling him the same as everyone else had been. Just because he had the possibility of being a bad guy didn't mean he was going to live up to it. Evan really wants to believe, and most days he does, but being reminded as he had been at Holly Peaks of just what Apocalypse was made him doubt himself.]

Thanks, Protoman. Why d'you go by that name, instead of Break now?

[He can tell the advice wasn't exactly what Evan was looking for.]

A few reasons. I wanted a new name to reflect a change in what I was doing, in who I was going to be.

[That sounds familiar to Evan. His uncle Cluster had given him the codename "Genesis" for the same reason.]

My uncle Cluster gave me a codename like that. He called me "Genesis", where the guy before me had been called "Apocalypse". A beginning instead of an ending, you know?

[He nods.]

A new beginning, it works for you.

[He smiles.]
