[today one can find Dextera in the library but he's not reading this time. he's actually playing chess with himself, thanks to the castle giving him a chess set as a Christmas gift.

...it's strange. playing by himself like this didn't feel "new" like most things did. lonely, sure, but not "new".

eventually he decides to ask a little about this and writes in the journal.]

What does it mean when you feel like you've seen something before but can't remember it? I forget the word.


[ooc: open via journal or in the library. replies might be slow from me for awhile :) and if you're wondering, that chess set is the one that Dextera and Thirteen used as kids. ...not that Dextera can remember.]

[he's been playing against himself this whole time, though it looks like the side Dextera is currently playing - white - seems to be losing badly.

He'll wait until Weiss is closer before writing.]

I think I like playing this. It's fun.

[he wouldn't be able to give you an answer even if he wanted to. but he'll start putting the pieces back in their orginal spots.]

Do you need any help? [since he isn't sure If Weiss had any hands he was hiding somewhere.]

[Oh dear. No hands. Well, he could use like, tiny Dark Hands (just like scooping fishes out of water) to move the pieces or something, but he didn't want to freak Dextera out or anything.]

he pauses to look up at Weiss.]

You can use magic? [no he doesn't seemed to have realized that Weiss is a magic book.]

[He's not sure whether to be offended at Dextera's slow on the uptake realization that he's a magic book or not.]

[Dextera blinks. He can't tell if Weiss is mad or not.]

I thought you just simply looked that way [and coming from a world where you were the only one who looked "normal", you learned to roll with whatever people looked like.] But it's magic that's doing that?

[he'll turn the board around so the white pieces face Weiss.]

[And with that, he will...outstretch a tiny Dark Hand out of his pages to move a pawn forward.]

[the appearance of the Dark Hand does cause Dextera to tilt his head but other than that, he doesn't look bothered. a little curious, yes, but he decides to hold off the questions and slides a pawn of his own forward.]
