Hey, guys! Easter's just about a week away. Some of you have never heard of it, so I wanted to explain a little bit. It's the real start of spring, at least on Earth. The Easter Bunny [not kangaroo] hides tons of eggs for people to find. There's chocolate and toys for prizes, and who doesn't like a scavenger hunt?

It just so happens that Bunny is here this year, and he wants to make sure everyone gets the chance to experience Easter. The problem is, he can't paint all those eggs by himself. He might be grumpy, but he's not so bad, and he really needs help.

That's where we come in!

I'll be spending the next week or so in the garden, starting right now. We've got lots of paint and plenty of brushes to go around. Young or old, it doesn't matter. Easter's for everyone.

You've never seen spring? [He frowns invisibly, then collects himself and continues.] This is gonna be a great spring, just you wait!

That's right. If I'm not out there, then I'm sure Bunny is. Just look for the eggs.

That is not the Easter I remember. Where is the reverence for Jesus Christ's resurrection? Who is this 'we' you speak of so emphatically that must help a rabbit paint eggs?

That doesn't have anything to do with helping Bunny. And as for the 'we'? I'm talking about the castle! You, me, everyone!

[Bunny's quiet for a long while, after this comes over the journal. He already knows Jack can be counted on for getting him believers. After all, if it wasn't for Jack, he would have lost his LAST believer. He knows that.

...But still. To hear it for himself is something else. He just stares at the journal, in a state of dumbfounded happiness. For all the ways he and Jack could get under one another's skin they were still in this together. Just like the rest of the guardians.

They were family.

And the punk kid could still surprise him. When he does eventually speak, his tone is fond, the edge of snark gone for now]

[Jack blinks at the warmth. He isn't expecting it, but it makes him smile and not in a smartassed way. He puts aside what he's doing, which means there is a blue thumbprint appearing on the page.]

I never celebrated Easter before, but I heard about it in class. It's some kind of Western holiday right?

I'm bored as balls in my room. I could help out! I got no experience painting eggs though... I just drew faces on them when I was a kid [A laugh]

[He laughs, too.] That's fine! I'm pretty sure Bunny paints faces on eggs himself. There's really no wrong way to do it.

So where are you from?

We already had the equinox, but there's still snow on the ground. Snow that I didn't make, I mean. Easter just... helps everything along.

Easter is pretty cool! You want to come help paint eggs? If you can't, that's okay. We'll make sure there's eggs for everyone.

What do you mean the start of Spring? On Earth Spring is the result of the planet's axial tilt and its orbit around the sun. Spring begins on the vernal equinox, when the earth is tilted neither towards nor away from the sun. Or when the days and nights are the exact same length. It usally happens on March 20, which means that it has already been spring for several days.

Yeah, but the snow's still around, and it's not showing any sign of melting.

So, yeah, while we might scientifically be at the start of spring, nothing's gonna happen until after Bunny gives it a push.

Better define which "Earth" you're from, 'cause I've never heard of it.

Anyway, I don't have anything against festivals, but aren't there more productive things people should be doing with their time here?

[Forgive him Jack, he just got here and it still hasn't been beaten into his head that there's no point investigating this place.]

Uh... Earth? I don't know how I'm supposed to define it. It's just Earth. With a whole lot of ocean and the Americas and Asia and Africa, and some other stuff. Like penguins.

[All is forgiven. He leans into the journal like that'll help him inspect the invisible shortcake on the other end. It does, at least, make him seem louder.]

What's more productive than making kids happy?

Always did enjoy a good Easter Egg hunt. I'm happy to help decorate a few eggs.

[ Easter has never been much of a thing in the Wizarding world. It is celebrated, yes, with a big feast and decorations. It isn't as big as Christmas or Halloween is, though, and not nearly as commercial as the Muggle version.

Nonetheless, it was something familiar and different at the same time. Remus had never taken part in the tradition of painting eggs before, and so he's intrigued. ]

I'll help out, though I'm afraid my artistic ability doesn't give much to the imagination.

That's fine. The important thing is to make something that kids can find.
