I never thought I'd be this glad to be back in my own room. Watching movies was nice, really, but-- I don't think I wanted to do it for a whole week. That won't happen if I go to the theater again, will it...?

Oh, I was wondering. Does anyone have any, um... anything broken that they don't want? Scrap metal or spare parts, or even bits of glass or plastic would work. I'd like to build some things, but it's a lot harder than I expected to make them with stuff that's intact. I'm not used to that at all, and it feels kind of bad to ask the castle for things and then just... ruin them. You know? I'm not sure what I'd even ask it for, anyway. I've only ever worked with stuff I've found lying around.

So, yeah, if you have any miscellaneous stuff that doesn't work or that you want to get rid of, please bring it to room 616. N-nothing too big, though! It won't fit through the door.

[For quite some time, 5 will be sitting just outside his room on the sixth floor in the hopes that someone might drop by. He doesn't want to be rude and leave the area in case anyone shows up... though he doesn't entirely take into account the fact that the door to his room is extraordinarily easy to miss.]

I don't know if I want to go back there at all. Being locked in there was uncomfortable and really boring, after a day or two. I wish they could have at least turned some more lights on.

Wow, you're part of those people who got stuck in the theater? I heard about that... Sorry I couldn't help about that.

But scrap huh... I saw a pile of it on the grounds near the stables, like a pile of broken farm tools.

It's okay. I don't think it was anyone's fault. And a lot of people tried to do something about it, but nothing worked... so please don't feel bad.

[At the prospect of some materials for his projects, the tone of 5's voice perks up considerably.]

That sounds perfect! At least, if there are some smaller pieces to work with. Could you possibly bring some of it up? I'd get it myself, but to carry it back would be...

[He sighs. His size always seems to be working against him in this place.]

Smaller stuff? I haven't seen any of those yet, but I'll keep my eyes peeled for some.

Ooh! I saw some lanterns in that junk pile earlier. Are those tiny enough?

Um, I was kind of... stuck. There was a movie showing, and I'd never seen one, so I went down to do that. But somehow, everyone got stuck in that room... the doors only just opened today.

[ She's never quite been bold enough to be up in the house when the beans were watching the telly, so she really wouldn't know. ]

You were stuck...? Oh, you mean the door was jammed! You should've called for me! I'm an expert.

[ At actually sticking her arm in a keyhole and messing with things, maybe. ]

[Chell's sitting in her room, staring at the shards of a broken mirror rather mournfully. She hated throwing anything out. So, when Five's message reaches her, she picks up the shards and tromps down to the sixth floor. She's looking close to the ground, so she sees him and waves... And then offers her shards to him like a weird holiday gift.]

Dunno if these'll work but...

[The miniature figure sitting slumped against the wall struggles to his feet when he sees someone approaching, his lips splitting into a wide smile. He offers Chell a nervous wave, and his one eye comes alight when he sees the pieces of mirror.]

Oh! Yes, this is great! Thank you.

[He gratefully accepts the shards as carefully as he can, nudging the door open to shuffle through and deposit them in a cleared corner of his room.]

Those could have quite a few uses, and you gave me a lot. I appreciate your help... er, what's your name? Your voice sounds familiar, but...

[Her face lights up. She's seriously happy to help him out. He's such a nice person.]

I'm Chell... I talked to you over the journals when you felt sad. And I'll keep my eyes open. I'd bet you can use screws and nuts and bolts and the like. If I find anything, I promise I'll bring it to you. I don't like wasting anything, and if someone can get use out of it, then I will happily share.

[She's dropped to a crouch. She's still huge. But it's an effort to not tower over Five because she knows how intimidating that can be]

I can! You don't have to bring it if you don't want to, I definitely want to take some of it-- but I can't carry very much, or anything heavy.

I'm kind of small... compared to humans.

Definitely not for a whole week. It was nice to sleep in my own bed for once.

You might want to try asking at the clinic or at the bars and restaurants around the castle- I'm sure they'll have a lot of broken glass and dishes and whatnot.

You were stuck in there too, then...? I must have seen you at some point. It was kind of dark, admittedly.

[At the idea she offers, he lets out a little gasp of revelation.]

That's a wonderful idea! I didn't think of that at all.

[Five may hear a bit of a clatter as some scraps and extra parts Blues normally keeps for his maintenance are dropped off at his door. Have some robutt parts little guy. Blues doesn't plan to stick around though for thanks though.]

[5, who has been sitting with his face buried in the journal in the midst of talking to everyone, blinks curiously upward at the sound of a jumble of metal parts being set down beside him. He sets the journal down carefully next to himself, scrambling to his feet to wave after Blues as he continues on down the hall.]

Ah, this is exactly the sort of thing I'm used to building with! Thank you very much!

Hello. I can have a look to see what I have lying around, if you like? What kind of things do you like to make?

I'd be very grateful. Usually I need things that are practical... I'd especially like to make a machine to help me get places faster. Small pieces of metal, gears, um... batteries, light bulbs, electric circuits... those would be good for that project.

But I'll take anything small, the material doesn't matter! I also want to decorate my room, and could use whatever you're willing to give me. I'm not picky.

I'll see if we have anything at the hangar. Pretty sure we have some spare auto parts - you trying to make anything in particular?

Yes, actually. I want to be able to travel around the castle more easily, since it takes me a lot longer than I'd like. I don't know if I can, but I'm going to try to come up with a machine, a-- a vehicle of some kind.

[He pauses to think for a moment. Auto parts... if he's talking about a human car, then...]

Not quite like a car, though. That's way too big, but I could still use the smaller parts-- those would definitely be useful.

Those would work! Especially the cutlery... forks and spoons are surprisingly versatile. I don't need a whole lot, just a few pieces, and maybe one jar.

Could you bring them over sometime? It's not urgent, so... come when it's convenient for you, okay? I'll be either in my room or in the hall right outside.
