[ So, space had been... interesting. Yes, let's use the word interesting for that in the hopes that it will not entire break his mind. He had heard of such things, from the books and from the people, but going there himself? It set his mind reeling and even Yfandes could make little of it. But as ever she counseled him to take it all in stride, since what else could they do in this world? At times, he rather thought he would be lost without his Companion.

And in deference to that, Vanyel would be sitting outside today, on the edges of the garden, finding a tree to shelter them and call, for the moment, home. Behind him was settled Yfandes, legs tucked up nicely and grazing slowly on what grass was easily in reach of her as well as munching now and then on an apple and a sweet Vanyel had placed on a small cloth for her. It seemed she was judiciously balancing munching on grass and taking bites of her treats, making them last. Vanyel lay back against her white side, his black hair stark in contrast.

Above him flittered mage-lights, drifting around and around in a pattern with soft blue-white light. It was silly expense of his magic, but it was good practice. Mage-lights were more delicate than they seemed, and creating more than one at once an even more delicate thing. He had been lax, and it was not a good for him to be out of practice like that. Even powerful mages needed to go over the basics, and it helped him think. Think about.. a lot of things.

And his concentrating made him less aware of those things around him, more easily surprised, but then, that was what Yfandes was for - not that a horse near the gardens didn't garner some attention in and of itself. ]

[ After a bit, he pauses in his exercises and brings the journal to him, opening it up and writing out the filter. ]

Clow, when you have the chance, I would like to see you.

[Mitsuru planned on reading something under the shade of a tree today. So she walked out of the gardens to find the spot she had her eyes on earlier. But she saw a man and a horse in that same spot. For a second she raised an eyebrow, thinking that she could find another place to read. But she thinks it wouldn't hurt to ask him if they could share the spot. It is a nice spot...]

Pardon me, do you mind if I stay here with you? I had initially planned on spending time to read on this spot, but if you wish to be left alone, I could find another.

_{[ Vanyel looked over and was instantly sitting up, a more proper position to great a lady. Yfandes raised her head, looking at Mitsuru with bright, intelligent blue eyes, tail swishing softly. ]}

No, please, make yourself comfortable.

_{[ Above him, the mage lights flickered and swirled, Vanyel unconsciously continuing to feed them. ]}

[Mitsuru cleared her throat as she sat under the shade to read. But it looks like she wouldn't mind a conversation if someone started it]

I did not mean to take your spot. It was just a nice day, for once, and Yfandes wanted some time away from the barn.

_{[ He stroked his hand the mare's neck, the mare turning to him and nuzzling gently, an indulgent mother, perhaps. ]}

Heh. I claimed no ownership of this spot. [She looks at Yfandes] I do understand, though. The snow has been harsh.

It was this year, which I was surprised at. It was gentler last year, though at least the Castle did not make us clean it all up this time.

Cleaning up the snow? Hm, I suppose I'm lucky I didn't have to go through such a task...

It was not really so bad. It was quiet fun with everyone helping, turning it into a bit of a game, really. Yfandes was quite the help.

_{[He smiled and patted the mare's neck, her ears pricked forward and her eyes flashing with what might be amusement.]}

[Mitsuru smiled at the thought of people helping each other out and having fun, it's not something that would really happen to her though. Feelings of being lonesome is creeping back to her. She cleared her throat]

I see. Then it would have been something enjoyable.

Come to think of it, are there any festivals in this world? Thinking about what you said made me think of social gatherings like festivals.

Several have been thrown actually - we've had Dwali, Christmas every year, I think we're going to celebrate Easter courtesy of Bunnymund, and we had a carnival once.

A carnival? [That made Mitsuru smile a little] It's been a while since I've been to one, that would be quite nice to have.

And Bunnymund? Who is this person?

Ah, he is the 'Easter Bunny'. It is some celebration on Earth, though my world does not have it.

And I am sure we will have another carnival. I cannot imagine the Castle will pass up on it.

The Easter Bunny? Wow, I have to say, I was not expecting the Easter Bunny to be in here... This place continues to amaze me.

There are many people here - far more than I thought could be, and from worlds I never thought could exist, telling me things I cannot even imagine. It's... astounding, really.

It makes one think just how many worlds are there. [She looks up to the sky, and closes her book. She enjoys the feeling of the warm spring breeze on her hair and face.]

Just from being here? More than I could have even begun to imagine. I pondered it one night, and just made myself feel... so very small.

Yes, that would be lovely, or you can join me outside. Either way is fine with me.

The gardens, then, now that the weather has turned a bit nicer. I'll be there in fifteen minutes or so.

[Which he will be, and he even took off his work apron for the occasion]

<sub>[ Oh, my, Vanyel was special wasn't he? He just made a quiet sound of acknowledgement and continued to lay where he was, toying with the witch lights.

He hummed to himself, letting them float about and twirl, getting a bit lost in them actually. ]</sub>

[Clow finds him, and gives him his usual warm smile]

<sub>[ The witch lights wink out and Vanyel smiles at the sight of the man who was both friend and lover. He had no illusions about it being more than that, but he admitted he was glad for the intimacy Clow offered him.

He rose, standing to take Clow's hand in greeting and lean in to press their lips softly together in a chaste kiss. A deeper one would need to be saved for the bedroom, should they make it there. ]</sub>

_{[ From her spot in the grass, Yfandes snorted her own greeting before going back to grazing. ]}

[Clow leans into that kiss, though he doesn't push it beyond the bounds of propriety. When he pulls back, he's smiling]

Has everything been all right while I was gone?

<sub>[ He remained standing, hands on his shoulders, sliding down to grip his biceps, remaining close to him. Even taking another kiss, secure in that much privacy at least - for the moment.

Certainly Yfandes was saying things to make him blush in the back of his mind. ]</sub>

[Clow laces his hands at the small of Vanyel's back - he doesn't particularly care where they are, when it comes down to it]

It's been business as usual - though I missed your company. And a few people got rather upset when everyone disappeared.

_{[ He smiled a bit brighter when he heard the other had missed him, and could not resist another kiss, sliding his fingers through the ends of the dark hair. ]}

Were you one of them? Though I was as upset, being taken like that.

[Clow isn't the sort of person to lie and say what he knows another person wants to hear, in most cases, unfortunately]

Irritated - but not overly worried. The strange is a daily occurrence around here, and I know you can take care of yourself.

<sub>[ That answer was oddly... comforting. He was glad not to have worried the other to much. He did enough of that on his own.

He smiled though, chuckling. ]</sub>

I am just glad you did not have to see me in the thing they forced us to wear. It was all silver, highly uncomfortable, and made of a single piece of cloth.

I know I am a peacock, but even peacocks have a certain line they will not cross. This place crossed it.

_{[ He gave a mock sigh of exasperation, as if it were pure torture being in the thing. ]}

I bet Howl would have loved it.

[He's never above making fun of Howl's taste in clothing]

I doubt it, as there were not enough colors for the poor man to use.

Oh dear, that'd be quite the tragedy. I think he needs at least three, preferably as bright as possible.
