[Idly dictated into the journal,]

It never ceases to amaze me with what people get to write, and what gets made into books. Some things just seem downright treasonous, but they still get bound, and bought, and read by lots of people.

I'm a little jealous to be frank. At home it could be pretty tough to get hold of books and things. Some of my friends couldn't even read so having books would have been moot.

[Rin is in the library today, which is not very surprising: the library is a good place to try and find her. Tad the Arcanine is hanging around lolling under tables and in front of chairs as she reads. Just now, she seems to be slipping a book into her carryall: the curious might get enough of a glimpse to see that she's making off with The Anarchist's Cookbook.

Beats me. A couple friends in high places who get the books and scrolls printed. Or they're just good at not getting caught.

Or it could just not even matter what they had to say, I guess.

If it didn't matter, why would they bother to write a book about it?

Desperation, would be my guess.

Eh, I don't really buy that. Desperation to make a change, or shake things up a bit, sure.

What, you think a government would let people do that?

Not every government, for sure, but that's the point. They're rebels. They're doing what they think is the right thing, even it's against the rules.

Then where'd the support to put together a whole formal book like this come from? I mean, some of these look really formal, like there had to be a press involved and everything.

You don't think a group of people determined to get... whatever it is the book is about out there couldn't find a way to do that?

I think there could but the more people involved, the more dangerous, probably. The more people who know about it, the more people who can betray it or get caught doing it.

Which is why you only handpick followers that you know you can trust.

I think that's a tough-sounding job too.

You've never had to do something like that?

Well... I dunno, actually.

As in, you might have forgotten, or...?

I've never... had a lot of people to choose from in the first place.

Well, it's not as hard as you might think.

[Hff.] I mean, it's not like I didn't have people, or find them when I needed them. I just... kind of got what I got, and mostly I got lucky, I guess.
