[Idly dictated into the journal,]

It never ceases to amaze me with what people get to write, and what gets made into books. Some things just seem downright treasonous, but they still get bound, and bought, and read by lots of people.

I'm a little jealous to be frank. At home it could be pretty tough to get hold of books and things. Some of my friends couldn't even read so having books would have been moot.

[Rin is in the library today, which is not very surprising: the library is a good place to try and find her. Tad the Arcanine is hanging around lolling under tables and in front of chairs as she reads. Just now, she seems to be slipping a book into her carryall: the curious might get enough of a glimpse to see that she's making off with The Anarchist's Cookbook.

[He says this all-importantly, with a huff at that. Then he remembers...oh right, manners. Those are a thing.]

My name's Rin. [She'd care more about his bad manners if she wasn't so curious.] Have you always been a book or was it just a thing that happened?

Mmmm...I believe it simply happened one day, but I do not remember how.

[Not that he minds being a book, judging from how he flutters his pages.]

Did it hurt? How long have you been a book? How long were you a human?

I get that a lot, but you know, I feel like it's more that most other people don't wonder much.

Oh! Well, how long have you been a book? [A long time, from the sounds of it... if he doesn't think twenty years was much.]

Over a thousand years.

[Yyyyeah, the book years to not book years ratio is kind of skewed.]

Wow! What have you been doing all that time?

`[She will just keeps asking questions until he is completely sick of answering them.]

I had laid dormant for quite a while, until some idiot woke me up by senselessly beating me.

[Except he's very fond of said idiot. But shhhhh.]

... Isn't that strange to you? To have lost so much time?

Mmmm...perhaps. I will simply have to make up for it.

How long have you been awake now?

For at least five years.

[Give or take a few months.]

Oh... well, that's good!

[As if she knows him! But what else should she say to that?]

Pah! Simply because I have lost many years does not mean I do not have knowledge pertaining to them.
