❀ Episode 08 ❀ [Action / Accidentally Dictated]

[Today, Rise is exploring the Music Room for the first time ever! As expected, it's occupied with all kinds of musical instruments and equipment, and not exactly the most familiar sight for a pop idol. But there is a nice space for a makeshift stage, and the acoustics of the room are pretty good. Maybe not a good place for actual performances, but she could definitely practice here!

She has no intention of actually doing so today. She doesn't have any material, so she's just kind of looking around and admiring the baby grand piano. Nanako said she plays, maybe they could do something together someday?

She traces her fingers along the top of the piano, all but completely unaware of her own voice whispering a singsongy verse. Of course, her open journal is sitting nearby.]

If the picture fits in your memory

And I won't stop until I start to stand out ♪

[There's a brief pause as she makes her way to the empty "stage", her mind drifting to her work back home as an idol. Her voice comes back even stronger.]

Before I move to the front of the line

[Suddenly she's fully into the performance, her voice projecting through the music room and into the hallway (as well as over the journal).]

[She starts to wander around the room again, dancing around the instruments and equipment in the room as if it were choreographed for a stage musical. Probably a stage musical from the 90's. And very un-Japanese.]

And I'll do it all again, when I get it done

[Back to the "stage" again, she manages to turn the next part into one of her more typical J-pop dance routines.]

[The final note rings through the music room. Rise stands in the center of her "stage" with one hand on her hip and the other raised high in the air.

It takes a few minutes before she realizes what just happened. And she just blinks in confusion.]

... Huh?

[Mitsuru went to the music room with the plan to read a good book and enjoy her rare tea in a tumbler. She opened the door and immediately heard the singing voice of someone familiar]

...? This voice sounds familiar, could it be-

[She looked into the room to see Rise singing and getting up on stage and started dancing. As the song ended and Rise posing like that, Mitsuru just had her poker face on like usual]

...

[A pause, then Mitsuru took a couple of steps backward before turning to walk away fast, her heels made noise like usual]

[... What?]

... Kirijo-san?

[Rise's not exactly bothered by the impromptu performance - it actually made her feel like she could be an idol again here, after all!

Sure, the fact that she had no control over it was annoying, and what was with that song?! But as far as castle pranks go, she could easily laugh this one off. At least it was fun!

So she really has no idea what Mitsuru seems to be running away for... maybe she thought Rise would be more embarrassed?]

I don't know if I should applaud or what.

[Rise doesn't notice her open journal until she hears a familiar voice. She's not too embarrassed by the compulsory performance now that it's over, so she just laughs.]

Thanks! But maybe save that for when I do my own songs.

[Suddenly, she wonders if maybe she should be more worried than she is...]

Has this ever happened before? The castle making people sing?

[That song was harmless enough, but she's starting to wonder if it's going to keep happening.]

I can't wait

[she laughs]

Oh yeah. It didn't do it last year but it's happened before. My first year here we all burst into song, too.

So it only happened once? I mean, it's not gonna keep happening over and over all week or something, right?

[The one time song actually gave her a little more confidence in herself as a performer, which is something she's been missing in her life ever since she came to this place. But if it was going to keep happening... it could get pretty annoying...]

Nah it's just an April Fools Day thing. Once the day's over it's done. Though some people do sing more than once.

[Careful what you wish for, Rise, it might become a loss]

[Rise miiight kind of be blushing a little bit over here. Sure, she's always been proud of her status as an idol but she's not exactly known back home specifically for her singing. Even if she is professionally trained.]

the random singing is just a thing the castle makes people do for april fools day sometimes
but yes i did
it was a pretty silly song and i was on a silly loss at the time to begin with
