[Dictated/Action for Expedition

 [Conan figured a day of travel was long enough to keep anyone from objecting too much.  So he finally pulls out his journal and dictates a short announcement.]

If anyone has been wondering where I am?  I decided to go on the expedition.

But don't worry!  I'm being very careful.

I went on the expedition. [He doesn't sound the least bit guilty about it.]

No. No, you're pulling my leg, because that would be A VERY IRRESPONSIBLE thing to do in your condition.

My condition wasn't that bad. [ And he really wasn't joking.]

You were unconscious for a week and needed medical attention as soon as you woke up. You need to be resting.

I am resting. I rode in the wagon.

But you don't know what we might encounter out here.

I don't know what I would encounter at the castle either,

Yes, but at least there you'd be near reliable medical help!

There are people here with medical training. And I brought supplies!

We also don't know how long this expedition is going to take.

The expeditions before have only lasted a few weeks.

That still doesn't make it okay.

But its too late to worry about any of that now, right?

[Kate knows there's no use in chastising Conan, but she's still worried.]

What are some examples of how you're being careful?

I'm wearing a sling.

That's it? You're wearing a sling?

Its better than leaving without trying to hold my arm still, right? And I don't really need it. It was only some stitches in my shoulder.

No, you need your sling. It's good that you're wearing it. I just...there's no telling what's out there in the Dead Zone. Are you sticking with the group?

Of course! I'm staying close to everyone. Right now its just like a camping trip.

Okay, as long as you're with the group. If you wander off by yourself, you might not be able to defend yourself with your arm hurt.

I ask for help when I need it. [Of course he never needed it. So that was an irrelevant statement.]

When I was home! I asked the professor to give me a ride.

[Somehow Kate just knows that's not the whole story.]

So you've never asked anyone for help here in Paradisa?

Sometimes! But you asked for the last time.

[Kate unconsciously enters interrogation mode.]

You said the last time you asked for help was a professor back home. Then you say you have sometimes asked for help in Paradisa. How is that possible, Conan?

Sometimes when people are knocked out for a while here, they return home for a short time. That's what happened to me last week.

[Kate is still skeptical, but she also knows a lost cause when she sees one. She sighs.]

I'm always careful. [Unless he thought something was more important than safety.]

[Rise doesn't really understand what this whole expedition thing is about. But she's pretty sure Conan shouldn't be going on it, especially when it sounded like he's been hurt recently.

Surprisingly, she doesn't scold him for being reckless. She just sounds very concerned.]

Are you sure you'll be okay, Conan-kun?

[She has a lot of friends going on the expedition, so she's sure they'll look after him. But it still doesn't seem like a good idea...]
