I have been thinking a lot about the apparent lack of a military or organization that serves for policing or military purposes. After our more recent adventure, I have come to the conclusion that we need some kind of organization during these types of things. We need a group of people to help keep people calm and to get a headcount of sorts. You know, figure out where loved ones are and whether or not they are safe.

Also, if the castle ever falls under attack, we need to know who can fight and who we need to evacuate. In order for that, we need to have evacuation plans and we need to know where we can find weapons in order to defend those that are unable to defend themselves. We can even offer self defense and various weapons classes to those who might be interested.

[There was no fanfare, no friendly greeting or easing anyone into this particular conversation. It's clear that Adam is determined to create this organization and that he has had some sort of experience with some of the instances that he was describing]

I would like to get a list of those who would possibly be interested in participating in this, then work on setting up a meeting to better discuss the details and get a feel for everybody's skill sets and expertise.

There used to be a system for the adults, but they let it fall apart. I'm working on something myself to be a one-man system.

Organizations have been tried before, but they always end up falling apart because people keep disappearing.

As for evacuation, the current plan is to have volunteers responsible for their own floors. The ballroom is a safe area, but we still don't have a safe out-of-castle location that's big enough to hold the entire population in case we need to leave.

Then perhaps we should find people who are able to create one. A reinforced area that's easily guarded and able to hold enough supplies to last a while in case of a siege shouldn't be too hard to build.

A man named Barton said he was working on something like that, but I haven't heard any progress. I know of a couple smaller safe places myself, but nothing that could hold the whole castle.

So, what makes you think you can get something like this organized better than anyone else? Because others have tried.

I actually had a meeting about that shortly before we were sent to space. I'm heading Code Blair. It had previously been mostly about kids but I'm trying to expand it to everyone.

Would you mind if I helped you then? I hate to brag, [actually, he loves to brag but rarely about this] but tactics is a talent of mine. Even before my ability manifested, I had a way of doing my jobs without getting my hands dirty and still get all the money.

I'd love the help, honestly. I'm not as much of a tactician, myself. My sisters and I worked together well but organizing a whole group of people isn't really my forte. I'm going to try to get another meeting going soon but maybe we should meet and try to figure some things out beforehand.

Several years ago some residents started something with a similar aim and called it the Peace Patrol. They responded to any threat to the residents and kept an eye out for danger. Unfortunately, some of what is dangerous is occasionally other residents, on losses or otherwise. It increasingly became a question of how or if they should punish other residents for transgressions. We had captured or killed a few who attempted something like a coup, but the result was months of squabbling over how to handle the remaining parties. Once we moved onto trying to establish a standardized code to decide what penalties were just, the backlash was such that the Peace Patrol ended up disbanding entirely. That was last year. Many people made it abundantly clear they did not want a government or anything that might simulate one.
