01- Arrival- [written]

[Bilbo furrows both his brows as he writes within his journal. Sitting within the room he was given, he sighs. He does not even know why he is within these castle walls, he just knows he is here now. He looks around before wondering who will actually get to read this. Is Thorin or any of the company here too? Right now, he felt butterflies within his stomach as he wrote.]

Hello. My name is Bilbo Baggins, of Bag End. I happen to be a resident within the castle here. I...[He coughed as he thought of something else to say.] ...I am rather unsure of why I happen to be here. I was in the middle of an important journey, you see.

[More humming and sighing. But then again, this castle did seem friendly and accommodating enough. The room was luxurious, to say the least.] If anyone is reading this, please can you contact me in any way possible. I would much like to meet anyone who is reading this and find out what is going on. I am a friendly hobbit, and won't say no to a bit of company.

May I take some of this bread and cheese? I haven't eaten properly, since leaving Bag End. I've been living on roasted meat and provisions from Bombur's pack. The stop at Rivendell was nice though, elven food is delicious.

[ Oh, right, food! ]

Yes, have all of them if you wish, we can always ask for more. I could even ask for some barrels of Longbottom Leaf!

Oh. Longbottom leaf? Are you sure? [Bilbo's eyes positively lit up at that idea.]

Can we request anything we want in the entire world?

[bronwe]

Yes! Absolutely everything. [ At least as far as he knows... ]

[Bilbo's mind was whirring now. What did he want most right now? A nice, comfy bed and some peace and quiet probably!]

How does this all work? I mean, the summoning up of objects and things.

[bronwe]

Usually, it works just be reciting one's wish. We can try... I wish for a pipe, please.

[ And voila, there it drops from thin air and onto Frodo's palm. ]

[Bilbo took the pipe and gasped softly. It was too good to be true.]

What stops people wishing for dangerous things or things too large for the castle to handle?

The castle does, to preserve itself from such danger.

So, the castle stops anything like that from happening? What if someone summoned up a dragon or something evil? I don't think people would like that.

[bronwe]

I have never heard of anyone wishing for living things... Besides, Smaug is a talking dragon! The castle would not grant talking things. Sentient things.

I didn't just mean the talking kind. I meant what about dragons that can't talk and like to well, attack people. [Bad thoughts. Yup.]

Or an orc or goblin! That could be very nasty.

[bronwe]

[ Frodo laughs a little. Such thoughts have been far from his mind since his arrival at the castle. ]

Come now, Bilbo. You will spoil your appetite!

I suppose I will, with all this talk of goblins and orcs. Forgive me. [He shook his head as his eyes looked hungrily at the plate of food Frodo had brought up.]

Have you ever met such demons, Frodo?

[ He nibbles a bit to keep Bilbo company. Eating alone is so unpleasant. Though that also gives him time to decide what he should or should not say. ]

Yes. A few orcs and goblins, then a cave troll once. [ And a Balrog, Uruk-hai and that great shadow he barely escaped from. He's certainly spoiled his own appetite this time. ]
